Boerne and Champion Cross Country teams will be going for a run this morning at 8am as its time for the district meet. Boys begin at 8 and the girls at 8:30, both in Seguin. And per Kerry Barboza of the Boerne Star, the Champion Boys team has won every district title since the school’s opening in 2008. That’s a streak of 18 in a row… and they’re projected to win number 19… across that span, they’ve also won 4 state titles. Comfort’s Cross Country team will run their district meet in Llano. 

In volleyball, Greyhounds defeat McCollum 3 sets to 1… with freshmen and JV completing sweeps. Champion completed a program sweep against South San. 

The third round match between Boerne and Champion yesterday morning ended with a Greyhound victory, 10-8. Boerne advanced to the regional tournament, awaiting their next round opponent. The match is expected to happen tomorrow.

On Saturday, October 17, both Boerne ISD High School bands will compete in the UIL Region 29 Marching Competition at Dub Farris Stadium in Northwest San Antonio.  The Mighty Greyhound Band will take the field at 3:00pm.  The Champion Charger Band will launch their performance at 4:00pm.  Go Greyhounds!  Go Chargers!





TxDOT officials will be in town in mid-November to provide an update for the Highway 46 Safety Project. Commissioner Jennifer McCall summarized the improvements planned for Webster’s Corner-one of the road’s most dangerous spots-at the Commissioner's Court yesterday.

Commissioners had set aside $100,000 in the 2027 budget for the project, which is the first local funding towards the project, with work starting on Webster’s Corner next September.

Marcy Grace is a Texas Country singer-songwriter known for her powerful vocals, energetic performances, and impressive guitar skills. Our own Mary’s Tacos has opened a brand-new multimillion-dollar location in Kerrville after nearly 20 years in its original building.  Besides our family-owned restaurant here in Boerne, there’s one more location in Helotes.





The Comfort Table and Food Pantry is serving grilled ham and cheese, as well as tomato soup, thanks to the Gaddis UMC Chefs. They will start serving at 5 until 6:30, or until the pots are empty. All are welcome to enjoy the free meal-eat and enjoy the fellowship or grab it and go!  

 

The Celebrate the Cibolo Gala ended up raising over $300,00 to support conservation, education, and community connection. Thank you to all the donors, and save the date for October 2nd, 2027.

It’s Tuesday, so that means another week of VOLLEYBALL! Tonight, Boerne High is at home to face McCollum at 6:30. Champion is also home and will face South San at 6:30. Geneva is away to face Incarnate Word Academy at 6:15. Comfort will face Llano at 6, and Bandera faces off against Canyon Lake at 6 as well. 

Today at 11am, Boerne vs Champion face off in round 3 of the tennis playoffs in San Antonio. May the best of the two win. We’ll have updates here on Boerne Radio Sports. 

Last weekend, the Faith Angler Network Season Kickoff Tournament took place at Lake Belton with reps from the Boerne Bass Club and Bass Club of Champions based here in town. Finishing in 2nd place was Brady and Mason Palmero of the Boerne Bass Club. From the Bass Club of Champions, Jack Ferrata and Mateo Diaz finished 3rd, placing in 6th was Remington Stewart and Braxton Ebner, and also participating was Luke Powell and Weston Battle.

Boerne City Council is back in action tonight. Council meets at 6 o’clock at City Hall, with a public hearing on the proposed annexation of about 13-point-4 acres along the 31300 to 31400 block of I-10 which is a primary commercial stretch situated between Scenic Loop Road and Balcones Creek, bordering the outer edge of Fair Oaks Ranch. Council will also consider rezoning that property to Community Commercial and a special-use permit that would allow automobile sales and service on part of the site. Another interesting item tonight: the City is considering formally adopting the Texas Department of Information Resources’ Artificial Intelligence Systems Code of Ethics and designating an AI risk officer.  The agenda also includes an agreement with Fair Oaks Ranch for use of Boerne’s Animal Control facility, plus count on an update on City Park.

 

The U.S. Small Business Administration is accepting Disaster Assistance applications from eligible nonprofit and faith-based organizations in Kendall County. This relief is to support the businesses affected by the severe weather and flooding between July 12th and August 4th-they may qualify for low-interest disaster loans to repair or replace damaged property, equipment, inventory, and other assets, as well as assistance with certain operating expenses. Applications for physical damage loans are due November 2, 2026, and you can apply now at sba.gov/disaster. 

 

Fair Oaks Ranch is continuing its ongoing roadway maintenance efforts this Friday and the following Monday on Noble Lark and Kalkallo Drive. Contractors will be conducting micro seal operations, but minimal traffic impact is expected. Flaggers will be present to safely direct traffic through the work zone and maintain access as operations progress. 

 

The Boerne Chamber of Commerce was closed yesterday for the federal holiday, but is back with seven ribbon cuttings this week. Highview Veterinary Hospital is having its grand opening today, and Caliente Plumbing, Heating and Air is hosting a celebration at 1:30. On Thursday is Pet Styling by Mimi at 11:30, Bewitching Styles by Crystal at 1:30, and a special 6th anniversary ribbon cutting for Boerne Radio at 4:15 at Liberty Capital Bank. Bellas Candles is hosting their grand opening ribbon cutting at 11:30 on Friday, followed by the 2nd anniversary of Imperfect Pies at 1:30.
