Well the rain has been a problem, and it was no exception at Plum Creek where the Geneva golf team started their district meet. The girls finished 2nd overall, and the boys are back at it today chasing 1st place.

And it’s San Jacinto Day where on this date in 1836, General Sam Houston and his men defeated the much larger Mexican Army in the battle of San Jacinto. The fight lasted only 18 minutes, and was the final and decisive battle for Texas Independence.

Sisterdale got 2 inches, along with the one at Infiniti of Boerne on I-10, 

Cave without A Name saw 3 and a quarter inches, and Fair Oaks Ranch measured 3.82…

New Braunfels got almost 6 inches…and the big winner yesterday was Cibolo with almost 7.

But the biggest site in town is seeing Cibolo Creek water go over the dam on River Road. 

Road Barriers may still be up in the usual places so please respect the signage and thanks to our great city workers for getting it done.  

 

Texas lawmakers are beginning a deep investigation into the deadly July 2025 floods in the Hill Country, as community members call for broader accountability. Yesterday during a visit to Camp Mystic, where 28 lives were lost, residents held signs honoring all 119 killed across Kerr County. Some criticized the focus on the camp alone, urging a wider review of the disaster. Lawmakers say the goal is to examine response efforts and improve future flood preparedness.  The Texas Legislature does not meet again to make new laws until Jan. 2027.

It’s Monday April 20th.

And it was on this date in 1992 in Wembley Stadium, A Concert For Life took place as a tribute to Queen Singer Freddie Mercury who passed away earlier in the year.  Over 72,000 people witnessed it live with a billion people watching around the world.  Artists performing included opening sets from Metallica, Guns and Roses, and Spinal Tap with more artists singing with Queen like  Elton John, Roger Daltrey, David Bowie, and Robert Plant.  

 

Also Happy Boerne Birthdays to Ashley Mae, Delia Cuevas, Terry Osborn, and Scarlett Ramey.

 

Joshua Creek Ranch is the place to be this Thursday for the Chamber’s After Hours Mixer.  Joshua Creek has been named a Wingshooting Lodge of the Year by Orvis for the year of 2026 based on their guest experience, facilities, and conservation practices.

Paul McCartney confirmed that his upcoming album “The Boys of Dungeon Lane” will contain a duet with Ringo Starr. After a little confusion about his role in the song, Ringo adapted and eventually added drums and vocals to the track, making it a proper duet between the two former bandmates. Paul noted that “It was really nice, because we've never done that. Ringo's never just taken a duet with one of the Beatles, you know?”

Headlines: BISD tennis players qualify for state at regionals / Spurs win first playoff game / shootout determines RBC finish

On May 7, these tennis players will be playing in the state tournament after qualifying this past weekend at regionals. From Boerne High, the mixed doubles team of Paytin and Justin scored a bronze medal, Boys Doubles team Nick and Gavin won gold, and Aidan won the boys singles with a gold medal as well. From Champion, Alex Morris finished with a bronze medal in the girl’s singles event. 

It’s a serious time now with the Spurs in round 1 of the playoffs against Portland. Game 1 was last night at the Frost Bank Center in the sea of fiesta colors, coordinated with the time of year. It was a back and forth game for two teams with inexperienced players in the playoffs. The Spurs take the first of 4 needed to win the series, 111-98 the final. Wemby also now has the most points of any Spurs player in history in a playoff debut with 35. Spurs lead the series 1-0 with game 2 tomorrow night in San Antonio.

At the RBC Heritage Tournament- final round on Sunday. The final went to a sudden death finish between Scottie Scheffler and Matt Fitzpatrick from England. Fitzpatrick in the end took the crown with -18 through the final round.
