Wave the flags and wear your best red, white, and blue. The USA Men’s Soccer team is headed to the round of 16 after knocking off Bosnia-Herzegovina 2-0 in San Francisco last night. This is the first time the U.S. won a knockout game since 2002. It did not come without some controversy and deliberate play- including a red card from an American player Folarin Balogun… the game guy who scored the first goal in the 45th minute! On Monday, the U.S. plays Belgium in Seattle to advance to the round of 8.
Also, England defeated Congo DR 2-1 to advance, and Belgium, the U.S.’ next opponent, beat Senegal 3-2.
In NBA Free Agency, dare I say the Spurs are now officially on the board- they signed Tobias Harris to a 2-year, $31 million deal. He is almost a perfect fit because he is a big man, can rebound, can shoot, and has playoff experience with the Pistons this past year. Summer League for the Spurs also starts this weekend… more to come.
And the John Deere Classic from Illinois begins today bright and early as a part of the PGA Tour.
