And happy birthday to Doc Severinsen - former band leader for Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show who turns 99 today. And also a special Boerne Radio salute to Sir Richard Starkey - the former drummer for band leader Johnny Lennon in a band from Liverpool, England called The Beatles. Before Ringo joined the Beatles, he played in a band called The Ravin’ Texans. Today he turns 86. And here in Boerne we say happy birthday to Kimberly Simmonds and Micah Morgan at Quality Innovations.
Breaking News! The Celebration of America’s 250th birthday isn’t quite over here in Boerne. The Cibolo Creek Quilters Guild has beautiful, handcrafted blankets on display at the Patrick Heath Public Library and in Boerne City Hall to commemorate our great nation. These patriotic quilts will be on display for the entire month of July.
Congratulations to Boerne Assistant City Manager Danny Zincke for completing a municipal leadership program hosted by the North Central Council of Governments. The 8 month program focused on municipal leadership, the ever-evolving challenges of local government, debt management and data analytics. During his time, Zincke has already worked on a number of capital improvement projects, including work on River Road Park, the amphitheater at Patrick Heath, and the Old No. 9 Trail. His municipal career spans more than 20 years, including previous service with the cities of Burnet, Buda, and Copperas Cove.
Boerne ISD has named Adrian Gutierrez as its new Director of Career and Technical Education. Gutierrez officially joined the district on July 6 after serving as CTE Director for Del Valle ISD. With more than 20 years in education, he’ll oversee programs that prepare students for college, careers, military service, and industry certifications while expanding partnerships with local businesses and colleges.
