Electrical storms played a big part in the high school football scene last night. First off, the news breaks that lightning has delayed Champion and Cedar Creek by 30 minutes… okay so to Davenport we go… Greyhounds take the early lead including recording a safety, so it’s 16-0. Davenport moved quickly, and by the half it was Boerne in front 23-14. In the second half, both teams would score… make it 30-21 Boerne in front. Until the 1:12 mark in the third, lightning caused a delay, and that delay would turn into a cancellation. Boerne won in three quarters, 30-21… but Zach Dickson and I never announced our player of the game last night… so first right here on Boerne Radio Sports… your Proud Pops player of the game is the running back, #18, Callan Combs. 

Champion eventually resumed… but it was all Chargers. Final was 55-0 in favor of Boerne Champion. Caleb Farias was the player of the game there with 3 TDs. He even caught up with the Boerne Star Sports Editor Kerry Barboza after the game.

Geneva shutout Shiner St. Paul 50-0, and Ingram Moore defeats Comfort, 34-6.

UTSA takes on Texas State in San Marcos at 2:30

10-ranked A&M faces Arizona St at 11 in the Aggies’ home opener

Rice will play #3 Notre Dame at 2:30

13-ranked Texas Tech takes on Oregon State at 6:30

And the marquee game of the week is #1 Ohio State in Austin taking on #4 Texas. 

And tomorrow as the first Sunday of NFL kicks off: 

The Texans take on the Bills at noon

And the Cowboys head to East Rutherford to face the Giants on Sunday Night Football at 7:20.
