Here’s the final football scores from last night. There’s just no stopping Holy Cross… not even a good team like Geneva. The Eagles lost 61-7, but there’s still a lot of time for them. Comfort lost a close one: final was 35-29 against Bandera.

This one is for the district title- Champion water polo is up early today because they have a meeting with Brandeis at Northside at 10:30. Should be a good one, and a lot is riding on this game for the Chargers! 

If you’re a fan of Banana Ball- you know, that team that wears bright yellow uniforms and does stunts while playing baseball… the Savannah Bananas… well, they’re coming to San Antonio in 2025! They’ll be at the Wolff Stadium September 12 and 13 of 2025, and they’ll be playing a new headliner team called the Texas Tailgaters. Boerne Radio Sports - Saturday, October 5, 2024

Alright, so both Champion and Boerne High tennis teams will begin their playoff runs starting on Monday. Both teams will be in San Marcos for the bi-district round. Champion will face Leander at 2 on Monday, and Boerne High will play Liberty Hill on Tuesday at 1.

A reminder that this is the bye week for Champion and Boerne High football, so we will not carry a game here on Boerne Radio tonight… but the city will not be entirely away from football. The 3-2 Geneva Eagles head to Holy Cross in San Antonio tonight at 7. Our friends in Comfort will host Bandera in a non-district game… kickoff is at 7.

Geneva Volleyball completed a 3-set shutout of John Paul II last night to continue their incredible undefeated streak alive.

Even with the Spurs adding some new names, and the focus of developing Wemby’s skills in particular, there’s still a lot of young talent on this year’s roster. One of those young studs is Jeremy Sochan, who even after averaging nearly 12 points per contest last season, says there's still a lot to improve on.

It’s Friday October 4th. 

The carving of Mount Rushmore began on this day in 1927, taking approximately 14 years to complete in 1941. The original artist, Gutzon Borglum, died before its completion, so his son had to finish the job. He chose the four presidents specifically because of their impact on the U.S., each signifying a different trait. Washington represents the nation’s birth, Jefferson represents growth, Teddy Roosevelt was responsible for great development, and Lincoln represents preservation of the country. 

The Boerne Parks and Rec department wants to remind you that the Boerne City Lake will be closed to the public all day tomorrow. Only those who registered for the Annual Family Campout will be allowed in the park. A reminder to those who are attending the event, there is no alcohol, glass containers, or ground fires allowed tomorrow, and you must be a happy camper.

Both Boerne and Champion High Schools have been selected as Silver Members of the AP School Honor Roll. Both schools had more than 62% of students take at least one AP exam, 46% scored a three or higher, and 25% of seniors took at least 5 AP exams. Another reason why our kids are blessed to be in Boerne ISD.

Hill Country Family Services has some items on their wish list to help folks in need. The Corner Cupboard Food Pantry, which they run and operate, has been providing healthy food options, education and dignity for those who need it, and allows clients to shop for the items they need for their family. This month the pantry is hoping for healthy soup, oranges, canned chicken, healthy cereal, laundry soap and jelly, so if you have room in your shopping cart, keep our dear friends at Hill Country Family Services in mind…Hill Country Family Services is on Advogt off North Main.  And don’t forget to shop at Random Hangers or donate to the thrift store.

Geneva Tennis teams roll past Central Catholic and Incarnate Word easily… the boys and girls teams both winning 10-2. The teams are headed to Waco Monday for the State tournament. 

The Houston Astros are done playing this season after losing 5-2 in game 2 of the Wild Card Series to Detroit. This is the first time since 2017 in which they have not won the first playoff series they’ve played during the postseason.

And just a reminder, the Greyhounds and Charger Football Teams are NOT playing this Friday Night  - it’s a bye week…so go BUY something… like dinner in Boerne.  Both teams are back next week as the Chargers travel to New Braunfels, and the Greyhounds welcome Harlandale.

The Spurs blindsided a lot of fans this offseason by signing free agents Chris Paul and Harrison Barnes, who in the basketball world… are pretty big deals. Barnes talks about seeing his young counterpart, Wemby, and his abilities.
