From District Champs to Bi-District Champs in Districts 13 and 14, your undefeated Boerne Greyhounds move on after soundly defeating The Taylor Ducks 42-14, just a fun ride all night as heard right here on Boerne Radio.

The Ducks got the ball first - they got inside the 20 ready to score, and got themselves into a 4th down situation where they went for it…defense prevailed and more specifically Houston Hendrix smacks the ball down in the endzone...and the Greyhounds got the ball

Final score 42-14.

Boerne Greyhounds will play the winner of Pleasanton and Tuloso-Midway as they play tonight in Freer, TX.

And while the playoffs begin so does the basketball season…tonight the Champion Charger boys will be at Harlan to take on a pretty strong Taft Team - go chargers…

Spurs play Milwaukee Bucks tonight at 7.

Cowboys play the Packers in Green Bay on Sunday at 3:25.   It’ll be interesting to see Coach Mike McCarthy back in Lambaugh as the visitor…and a great chance to win against a struggling Packer team.

In the rumor mill - free agent Odell Beckham Jr. is in the scope of the Cowboys, and Beckham has suggested he wouldn’t mind because he has family in Dallas and wants to be on a winning team.  If you remember Beckham is known for one of the greatest one handed catches falling backwards against the Dallas Cowboys. 

We shall see.

It’s Monday March 23rd. 

 

And born on this date in 1823 was Skyler Colfax….who?  He was an American politician who first served as a State Rep in Indiana, then became the 25th Speaker of the House, and then the 17th Vice President of the United States under President Grant.  Colfax was known for his opposition to slavery while serving in Congress, and was one of the founders of the Republican Party.  Oh…that Skyler Colfax.

 

And some big birthdays today - Chaka Khan turns 72 today, Chaka Khan, Chaka Khan…i already said that… Rick Ocasek was born on this date in 1944, and right here in Boerne Happy Birthday to Josh Murray with the Murray Service Company, Ryan Whaley over at Live Oak Investors, Courtney Hadley and Theron Johnson.

Last Thursday Brooklyn Chandler Willy plead guilty in connection to a Ponzi scheme involving two Lubbock businessmen. She owned Queen B Advisors in San Antonio with an office on Main Street in Boerne.  Federal officials say she faces multiple charges, including wire fraud, money laundering, and identity theft. Investigators say she misused millions of dollars from investors for personal expenses and to pay others in the scheme. Willy could face decades in prison, with sentencing scheduled for September 28th.

 

If you missed the weekend edition of the Boerne Star, here were some of the highlights. Peggy’s on the Green has been invited to return to the Boerne scene if an upcoming project is approved on Main Street. Developers laid out plans for a new retail center on the Hill Country Mile called Park Plaza, a 12,000-square-foot center that could offer space to high-quality eateries.  The sad part of all this is the address - 305 thru 325 North Main which is the current home of Boerne Grooming and Pet Shop.

The Kendall County Elections Office could also be moving to the Burdick Center on Old San Antonio Road. 

 

And the Art Waddle which takes place every May, will now be called the Art and Wine Fest starting this year. 

This week the Boerne Chamber is hosting three ribbon cuttings, starting with Davies Digital Solutions at 11:30 tomorrow morning. Then on Thursday, The Model Box will will be celebrated at 11:30, followed by iTrive AI at 1:30.  The Chambers annual golf tournament is this Friday at Tapatio Springs.

Your Champion Chargers have 54 points and that’s enough for 3rd place at the moment… They're behind Aledo who has 55, and they’re trailing first place Cedar Park by only 4 as they have 58. Keep it going, Champion! 

And contributing to that effort is the swim program at Champion… David Hinojosa of the Express News has revealed the year’s standouts. The 5A state meet MVP Kate Canales is the swimmer of the year with her 4 gold medals. And Scott Slay claims the Coach of the Year title. Much deserved. 

Round 2 of March Madness- time to get out your brackets so mark them correct, or incorrect depending on who you picked. Who’s advancing to the Sweet 16 this weekend? It won’t be the Baylor women, as they lost to Duke. Texas Tech women were eliminated by LSU. TCU beat Washington in an overtime thriller to advance. The UT men and women are headed to round 3, as the men continue to surprise everyone, beating Gonzaga on Saturday. TCU men got eliminated by a tough Duke team, and Houston beat Texas A&M Saturday to advance. Late last night, Alabama men ran away with a victory over Texas Tech.
