Boerne, get ready- because Boerne Little League Majors All-Stars are dominating right now and they are looking to stay alive- they are gearing up for their Texas West Tournament in Abilene this week. Their first game is Wednesday at 6 against the Oilbelt Little League.

In the FIFA World Cup- Mexico and England had an absolute battle on the pitch yesterday evening. It was a home game for Mexico as it was played in Mexico City, so the sea of green jerseys cheered and chanted. England took a 2-0 lead, then Mexico got one back. We’re at 2-1 England before the half. Both teams would get one more in half number two, but Mexico would have to scramble with 11 additional minutes… with multiple chances they couldn’t, y buenas noches mis amigos- England advances to the round of 8. Canada also lost over the weekend, so the only co-host country, the United States, is still in it.

Speaking of them, they play Belgium tonight at 7 in Seattle-  but US player Folarin Balogun, the one suspended for a red card against Bosnia, had the penalty revoked after President Trump called FIFA to review and reverse it, according to ESPN and ABC News. So, he will play tonight.

Sunday started with a tie for first in the John Deere Classic in the Quad Cities on the Illinois-Iowa border.  Lucas Glover, and Lee Hodges both at 16 under with 9 other players within 4 shots of the lead, including fan favorite 50-year-old Zach Johnson.  And out of nowhere, Chris Gotterup shoots a 9-under on Sunday with no bogeys, starting in 12th place and finishes with the lead.  Glover and Hodges both shot 2 under dropping them down to 4th  and 5th place.  Gotterup had to wait on the driving range as Kohles ties it up on Hole 15…it’s looking like a playoff going into 18, but Kohles on his approach, knocked in the water.  Chris Gotterup with his brother Patrick on the bag wins the John Deere Classic…his 5th career PGA Tour victory.  He takes home $1.58 million…Kohles’ waterball, and missed putt dropped him to 3rd…a $500,000 difference.   This week is the Genesis Scottish Open…and who won that last year?  That would be your John Deere Champion Chris Gotterup.
