Well to begin, while Boerne High and Champion didn’t make it to state, the football title games took place over the weekend. District rival for Champion Smithson Valley took it home for the 2nd-straight year. And yes, we send our congratulations to a deserving Rangers team and coach in Larry Hill… but now a look into the future: While both teams are losing some senior talent, the exciting part about next season is what up and coming JV and underclassmen players are on the rise. Coaches Sawyer and Ellis are for sure going to be busy through the spring seasons to prepare for next year. We are 222 days away from August 1 of 2026, likely when teams will start reporting for practices. And we. Can. Not. Wait.
What a time to be a fan of the San Antonio Spurs! They now jump to 2nd in the West after a win Friday over Atlanta, and last night over Washington. The Spurs on 21-7, just behind the Thunder who are 25-3. Fun fact: these two teams go to battle tomorrow night at the Frost Bank Center, and then Thursday as well. Tip off for tomorrow is at 7.
And boy! Texas A&M football just couldn’t seem to find their groove. Neither could Miami, and it was all defense and a made field goal each. However, Miami in late stages found the endzone… game ends on a Miami interception, and that’s all she wrote. 10-3 Miami wins, and A&M is out of the playoffs. The only surviving team from the Lone Star State is Texas Tech who is enjoying a bye week, and the holidays as well. Oregon won their game, and the two teams won’t meet in the Orange Bowl until New Year’s Day at 11. Texas A&M Volleyball however, for the first time in school history, are national champions, and it wasn’t even close. Aggies swept the frames, and took the game 3 sets to none. Aggie fans still have a lot to be proud of with a historic season of athletics.
