Tonight is the night - game 1 between Boerne and Calallen will be live here on Boerne Radio. Bobby Stautzenberger and I will have the call from SAISD. So you just sit back, relax, and enjoy some regional final baseball. Remember, the Greyhounds are one round away from heading to the state tournament! Coverage will start at 6:45 with the pregame show and first pitch at 7.

Two Boerne athletes are on this year’s All-Area Teams for Golf from the Express News. Phoenix Guerra from Boerne Champion, who finished 7th at state, and Jace Hulett from Geneva who won his 2nd-straight state championship. Hulett is also a finalist for Golfer of the Year by the publication. 

Speaking of golf, a Champion alum is making her talent known at St. Mary’s University. Savannah Dupre had an unforgettable week in the DII world as the women’s Rattler team were national runners-up in the finals. They earned the cool little NCAA trophy and everything, but aside from the hardware that comes along with it, the accomplishment is quite valuable itself. 

Another San Antonio university made history yesterday - Our Lady of the Lake University’s softball program, dominant all season long, defeated Jessup (California) in the final game 2-0 at the South Commons Complex in Columbus, Georgia, to clinch the school’s first ever NAIA Red Banner across all their athletics programs in the 129 year history of the institution.

In the College Softball and Baseball World Series for Division I, the double elimination round begins today with UT Austin in softball facing off against Stanford. Texas has the best-seeded record with 52-8. Baseball, still in the regional rounds, has a few teams from the Lone Star State still dancing- 3-seeded Texas A&M faces Grambling, Dallas Baptist next faces West Virginia, and UT Austin faces Louisiana. These games will begin tomorrow.
