Headlines: Geneva Soccer Home Opener/Spurs update
Thursday 1/9
This is Boerne Radio Sports, I am Esteban Serrano. Here are today’s top stories…
So, the high in Boerne yesterday was 37 degrees. Hard to imagine playing soccer in near-freezing temps, but Geneva girls did it. In fact, they had their home opener last night against New Braunfels Christian, and are now 1-0 at home, with a 3-1 victory. The next big task for them is the Longhorn Showcase.
The high in Milwaukee, Wisconsin yesterday was a whopping 22 degrees. Only 15 degrees colder than the South Texas, but even then, the Spurs couldn’t seem to heat up last night, losing to the Bucks badly, 121-105. The bad news for the Spurs is now they are 18-19, and are under .500 for the first time this season, but the good news is their playoff standing remains for now. They have a date with LeBron James and the Lakers Saturday at 9:30 before their mini road trip ends next week.
