As heard here on Boerne Radio, the Greyhounds made a voyage through rain and thunder and lightning to play their game 1 in Leander against Cedar Park. First we are scheduled to start at 6, then pushed up to 3, and then we get pushed back because of a storm cell. Back and forth, but Cedar Park would win after a 4th inning delay 6-4. Game 2 is tonight with the Greyhounds facing elimination. Pregame begins at 5:45 here on Boerne Radio.

Champion came back from being down to winning 6-2 in a 5-run comeback against Hays. This game was heard by Mark Kusenberger’s call on Boerne Radio. Game 2 is tonight.

And Minnesota knocked out Denver in game 6 yesterday, so starting on Monday, the Spurs and Timberwolves will face off in round 2 of the playoffs… just like the good Tim Duncan vs Kevin Garnett days.

And it’s Mental Health Awareness Month, National Military Appreciation Month, and National Foster Care Month.  Today also begins National Teacher Appreciation Week, and a quick reminder that Mother’s Day is on the 10th so make sure you register to win our mother of all contests at boerneradio.com.

And the flood watch that started last night - issued by the National Weather Service continues through this evening.  The rain should clear up in time for the first pitch after 6.  

 

Camp Mystic will remain closed for the summer of 2026 after withdrawing its operating license application. Camp leaders say the decision comes as families continue grieving and multiple investigations remain ongoing following last year’s deadly Fourth of July flooding. State officials, including Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, supported the move. The camp says it will continue cooperating with investigations as lawmakers and families seek answers about the tragedy that claimed so many young lives. 

 

This week the Kendall County Commissioners' Court recognized Kendall County Sheriff Deputy Flores for 5 years of dedicated service.

Two Champion High School seniors have been awarded scholarships from the Kendall County Fair Association. Reese Voulgaris and Jonathan Hulce will each receive one thousand dollars through the Homestead Heritage Exhibit Hall Scholarship. Voulgaris plans to study agricultural business at Blinn College, while Hulce will pursue a pre-med track at Texas A&M.

Headlines: Geneva baseball falls in area playoff / Both Boerne ISD schools begin R1 series tonight / CHS boys golf finishes 11th at state / Geneva T&F now prepare for state

Tough outing for the Geneva baseball team the other night fell to First Baptist Academy 4-2 in the area playoffs. Their season comes to an end but not without a fight.

Speaking of baseball, tonight starts the playoffs for Boerne ISD high schools. Champion vs Hays will begin tonight with game 1 at 7. And right here on Boerne Radio, we will carry Boerne vs Cedar Park in their round 1 matchup. Coverage will begin at 5:45 right before the 6pm first pitch. 

Champion boys golf claimed the 11th place finish at the 5A state tournament. They shot a total of 635 over two days in a very competitive field. The 5 members of the team who accomplished this feat were Boden Bouslog, Matthew Mendoza, Cooper Relf, Gavin Tavitas-Steele, and Jack Thomas. 

And Geneva track and field will be heading to state as the teams finished regionals. The girls came in 12th and the boys in 6th. Combined there were 3 bronze medals, 1 silver, and 2 gold.
