Happy December… there’s a lot to look forward to in this last month of 2024 including basketball in Boerne from both high schools, more Spurs action, the Alamo Bowl on the 28th, and  the Greyhounds football team. 

After a huge Greyhounds victory on Friday night in Seguin, and a historic night as Coach Che Hendrix getting his 100th win, Hutson Hendrix scored 4 touchdowns and was named the Jon Wayne Player of the game… but if you go to POTG.jonwayne.com - it’s time to vote for the player of the year… be they Greyhound or Champion Charger - find your guy and vote!  

And this Friday night in the Alamodome the Greyhounds will face a very strong Corpus Christi Miller who beat up Alamo Heights who had Boerne’s number in the beginning of the year. We will air that game right here on Boerne Radio 103.9FM.

On December 28, the Alamodome will also be used for another big football game… I’m talking about the Valero Alamo Bowl. Now, it is unclear what two teams will be competing and we should have a better sense after Selection Sunday for the college football playoff on the 8th… but a Pac-12 legacy team and Big-12 team will each be selected. This also means for Boerne Champion fans that if the Colorado Buffaloes are selected, not only will Dallas Cowboy legend Deion Sanders be at the dome to coach, but Gage Goldberg, Champion alumni, could be playing in the game, as he signed with them before he graduated in May. The game will air on ABC. 

Well, the Aggies vs Longhorns game lived up to the hype - the 12th man was screaming full force - the Longhorn Band was drowning out the Whoopin’ - when the Longhorns got in the red zone they pulled their starting quarterback Quinn Ewers and put in Arch Manning who ran it in on his first touch. Texas didn’t score in the 2nd half, and won the game 17-7.  Now, in 2 weeks, they have a date with the Georgia Bulldogs. 

The Spurs won another close game Sunday night - this time in Sacramento against the Kings, 127-125.
