And it was on this date in 1956 that Elvis Presley made his first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show.  About 60 million people watched — more than 80 percent of the television audience that night.

The 6th annual Tug The Truck hosted by the 100 Club of Kendall County is back this Saturday in front of the Black Rifle Coffee Company.  The event supports our local first responders, with registration beginning at 7:30 and opening ceremonies at 8:15.  Followed by the classic Guns and Hoses Tug of War - that’s the Boerne PD vs the Boerne Fire Department.  And your team can compete in the Tug the Truck, the Police Car Push, and Drag the Dummy for the “Top Dawg” title.  There’ll also be local vendors, raffles, and something new this year - a dunking booth…and yours truly will be in that dunking booth so a special challenge to all you belly pitchers - bring it I say… you can sign up your team now at RaceEntry.com for Tug the Truck.

The Comfort Public Library needs your help! There has been a mix-up in the receipt of their weekly copies of The Comfort News. If you have any copies of the news from June 8th until now and have the time, the Comfort Library would love to collect them to put on file.

The beginning of construction preparations began yesterday on Dietz Elkhorn in Fair Oaks Ranch. This mobilization phase is expected to last until September 14th, so residents and drivers should expect to see crews arriving on-site, large construction equipment moving throughout the project area, and other activity as the contractor prepares for construction. Starting on Monday is when the actual construction begins, which will move in 3 phases along the road. During this time, drivers are encouraged to use caution, watch for construction vehicles and follow all posted signs and traffic-control measures. 

Also happening in Fair Oaks Ranch next week is an Oak Wilt Workshop hosted by the Fair Oaks Ranch Homeowners Association. This event on Tuesday at 7 will allow residents to learn more about the destructive tree disease and what you can do to help protect the oak trees throughout our community. Texas A&M Forrester Elizabeth Nyawo will be presenting as well as the Environmental Program Manager at Spring Creek United Methodist Church.
