It’s Wednesday July 8th.
And it was on this date in 1776 that a 2,000-pound copper-and-tin bell rang out from the tower of the Pennsylvania State House in Philadelphia, calling citizens to gather for the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence. That building became Independence Hall, and of course that bell is the “Liberty Bell”.
And celebrating birthdays today in Boerne are Jacque Pickens, Rowan Curbello, Tina Fisher, and Micah Morgan. If today is your birthday you share it with Beck, he turns 56, and the late great Toby Keith born in 1961.
I’m Baron Wiley.

Gas prices around Boerne are hovering between $3.22 and $3.49 a gallon, but tomorrow your neighborhood Circle K has another promotion happening for their Inner Circle members like me - how about 40 cents off every gallon of gas all day long. And they have another promotion, go inside and buy 3 Gatorades, and get another 30 cents off. And all you have to do is download the Circle K App where every day your 99-cent fountain drink is 79 cents.
The City of Boerne’s Planning and Zoning Commission has pushed back against a request for modifications to a 4-acre tract of land. The property is being acquired by Crunch Fitness, an international fitness brand with over 300 locations worldwide. The changes they requested included a new driveway and land modification, but the P&Z Commission is waiting to make a decision for when more information is available.
The City of Fair Oaks Ranch is looking for involved residents to be a part of the conversations that shape the community. Applications are still open for City Boards, Commissions and Committees until July 30th-one of the 21 spots could be yours.
