It’s Wednesday July 29th.

Programming Alert:  2 new show debut today on Boerne Radio - first The Boerne Coaches Show live from 28 Songs starting at 6pm - we’re looking for a live audience to clap and cheer at the right times plus take advantage of the Boerne Radio 103.9FM Special - that would be an all beef Nathan Chili Dog with Fries for only $10.39!  That special runs from 5-8 at 28 Songs.  And then after that is the debut of The New Retro Rewind Radio Show with Chef Mark Sierra as he flashes back to the 80s and the 90s musically speaking, and you can call in and make dedications when you call Boerne Radio at our new number: 844-830-1039.

The digital copy of the Boerne Star is out today and here are some headlines:

All 120 horses at Corrival Ranch north of Boerne survived last month’s flooding without injury, thanks to ranch staff, first responders and dozens of volunteers. Rising water cut off access to the Sisterdale Road facility, forcing crews to move the horses to higher ground. Cleanup continues as volunteers remove mud, debris and damaged materials.

Boerne Police K-9 Chico will be among 23 fallen police dogs honored during a virtual memorial run on National Police K-9 Day, September 1st. Chico died in April of last year after being struck by a vehicle along Interstate 10. Registration for the 9K, 5K and one-mile run is open through August 10th at K9sUnited.org.

The culvert construction site on Adler Road and No Name Creek was severely damaged by the flooding two weeks ago, forcing the City of Boerne to adjust their construction plans. The temporary sidewalk and roadway along the north side of Adler Road were destroyed and the ground beneath them was washed away-the stretch of roadway has been fully closed to vehicles and pedestrians since then. The City has decided to move straight into the next phase of construction, rather than rebuild the temporary road, allowing two-way traffic to be reinstated in the first week of September, and sidewalk access by August 11th. Drivers will still be able to access homes, schools and businesses along Adler Road, but they must follow detour signs to avoid the construction zone.

The Comfort Table and Food Pantry is hosting a food and supply distribution event tomorrow in partnership with the San Antonio Food Bank. The event will take place in Comfort Park from 10 to noon, or until supplies last. You can register online by visiting the link posted in the Boerne Radio news blog.

Congratulations to Jason Reese on five years of Service with the Kendall County Office of Emergency Management and Fire Marshall.

And happy birthday to a bunch of Boerne ladies: Jennifer Michael, Kay Reeves, Kelly Anglin, Mandy Jackson, Nikki Decker, and Valerie M.  Also a special happy 26th anniversary to Shan Wiley for being married to this guy.  We all share this date with Cowboy Quarterback Dak Prescott who is now 33, Geddy Lee of Rush is 73, and Martina McBride is 60.
