It’s Thursday July 30th.

And it was on this date in 1956 when the phrase "In God We Trust" was adopted as the official U.S. motto. It was first used on coins starting in 1864.

Today Kate Bush is 68, Paul Anka is 85, and Mr. Give Me That Wink Country Singer Neal McCoy from Jacksonville, Texas is 68.  And more cowboy hat wearing rock stars from Boerne include Mark Kurkowski with the Legacy Broker Group, and Andrea Gargano.  Happy birthday!

Bandera Electric Cooperative is joining local leaders in urging TxDOT to speed up safety improvements on State Highway 46 West between Interstate 10 and Highway 16. The cooperative's board approved a resolution supporting the already-funded project, citing more than 550 crashes, 13 deaths, and 44 serious injuries on the corridor since 2016. Planned improvements include wider centerline buffers, concrete barriers, and turn-lane upgrades aimed at reducing deadly head-on collisions.

There is a nationwide blood shortage-the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center reports that donations have declined, making it hard to keep up with hospital demand. You can schedule your donation with the organization at southtexasblood.org/give or call them at 833-YOU-GIVE. Walk-ins are also welcome.

Over the weekend, over 1,000 attendees joined the Boerne ISD’s Back to School Resource Rally, with lines forming 90 minutes before opening. The school district offered student registration, immunizations, school bus route data, after-school care information, school supply signup and meal-ticket resources. Up to 30 community vendors were on hand, and Love Kendall County Kids had dozens of volunteers on site.
