It’s Tuesday October 28th. 

And it was on this date in 1886 that the Statue of Liberty was dedicated by President Grover Cleveland.  Ironically it was Cleveland who vetoed the bill to fund the pedestal that needed to be built when he was the governor of New York in 1884.  However it was Joseph Pulitzer the publisher who started a drive that raised the 102 thousand dollars needed from more than one hundred and twenty thousand donors.   Americans responded.

Early voting is happening now…election day is November 4th but there’s a big election coming up in 2026 - and the Tusculum on Main Street is the place to be this Thursday from 6-8pm to Meet The Candidates!  Potential Candidates for Congressional District 21 - so far 8 names gearing up for the primary will be there…locally the incumbents will be there from JPs, Commissioners, and Judges plus a few challengers.  There you’ll be able to sign petitions to help your guy or girl get on the ballot.  You can see the list of those committed to come in the news blog at boerneradio.com - hope you can come too - Thursday night - 6-8 at the Tusculum.

Alright…same song, third verse…The Boerne Police Department wants to make you ware of a new scam going on around town. Recently someone has been calling locals posing as Lieutenant Walk and is claiming that there is a warrant out for your arrest and that you must pay immediately.  If you ever feel intimidated or threatened by potential scammers, call the Boerne Police Department at 830-249-8645.

Unfortunately, there was a fatal accident yesterday evening on I-10 at the 524 mile marker. The westbound lane was closed following the crash and was diverted through Comfort with significant delays. We will update you as we learn more information.
