Born on this date in 1951 is one of the greatest punks ever…Joey Ramone, Lainey Wilson is 34, and Grace Jones turns 78 today.  And right here in Boerne we say happy birthday to Megan Wilson, Andrea Johnson, Rosalynda Garza, and the founder of the Flag History Project Mr. Patrick Craven.

The City of Boerne is looking for your input on the new name of Northside Community Park. Potential names need to be meaningful and representative of Boerne, whether they reflect our culture, geography, history or celebrate a hometown hero. With each submitted name, you’ll need to explain in detail how it is connected to the site. The survey is open until May 29th, and once all of the names are submitted, they will be compiled and presented to City Council. Foundation Unites has unveiled plans for a monument in tribute of the 119 lives lost during the Guadalupe River July 4th floods last year. The River of Angels Monument will be placed in Kerrville and stand 36-feet high, which was the height of the flood crest. Built with Texas Hill Country limestone and iron accents, the structure will be engineered with reinforced foundations and deep pilings to withstand future flooding. The monument will include tributes to victims, rescue workers, and volunteers, along with prayer gardens and memorial plaques. Organizers say construction funding will rely on donations and community support. 

As of now, Champion Seniors will graduate at 8 pm on Thursday, and Boerne High will be at 8 on Friday as the district keeps an eye on the weather - Thursday looks most concerning  for heavy storms, possible flash flooding, and damaging winds. Boerne ISD asks that parents and students remain flexible if they need to adjust ceremony times.

Champion Baseball Regional Finals games are tomorrow night, Friday night and Saturday at 2 if needed.
