Congratulations to the Patrick Heath Public Library, which has been honored with the 2024 Achievement of Library Excellence Award by the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association. They are one of only 102 public libraries across Texas to achieve this distinction. The award recognizes libraries that go above and beyond in 10 key areas, including community outreach, literacy support, workforce development, and digital inclusion. The Boerne Library has worked to create The Memory Lab, the Library of Things and other projects over the past few years, making our library one of the best in the Lone Star State.
The first graders of Geneva School of Boerne made a surprise visit to the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office on Friday. The students took the time to read the handwritten letters they had written the Sheriff and even brought a basket of treats. Thanks, kids for making the Sheriff’s day and for sharing your kind words.
Friday was the final day for candidates to file for City Council, School Board, and the Mayoral Race. Mayor Frank Ritchie was running unopposed until that last day. Boerne resident Laura Haning will be on the ballot, that first Saturday in May.
Boerne District 2 will be a rematch of City Councilwoman Sharon Wright and resident Joe Bateman. Wright won that race by 21 votes. District 4 Councilman Bret Bunker remains unopposed. Both Boerne ISD incumbents have races to face - current board President Garrett Wilson will be up against Scott Newberry, and Place 4 Trustee Martiza Gonzales- Cooper will face Sarah Faulkenberry. April 3rd is the deadline to register to vote, and early voting runs April 22 through the 29th.
