🎂 Happy Hill Country birthdays to Marvin Hyde, Michelle Stolze & Sarah Persyn

đź“° Boerne Radio News delivered by The Boerne Star

It’s Tuesday, August 11th.

If today is your birthday, happy birthday!  Famous people that share your birthday include Henry the Fifth born in 1086, Hall of Fame Member of the WWE Hulk Hogan was born in 1953, and NBA Champion with the 2014 Spurs Patty Mills was born in 1988.

And here in the Hill Country we celebrate with Marvin Hyde, Michelle Stolze, and Sarah Persyn.

Happy First Day of School to Boerne ISD and many private schools including Crestmont Christian Preparatory School in the Original home of Boerne’s High School and so the Boerne Farmers Market had to find a new home and they did in the shade of the Richter Building just outside of our Boerne Radio Studio.  Here’s the Director of the Boerne’s Farmers Market Lenore:

And after 1000’s of likes, comments and AI generated posts about Boerne Little League heading to Williamsport last night — this story isn’t over yet.

Boerne defeated Louisiana 4-to-1 yesterday after Oklahoma’s Tulsa National team was disqualified over an ineligible player, sending Boerne to big dance.

But, a McLennan County judge issued a temporary restraining order reinstating Tulsa and ordering the championship game to be played tonight at 6 o’clock.

So as of early this morning, Boerne may have to beat Oklahoma tonight to officially punch its ticket to Williamsport. Little League International had not yet publicly responded to the judge’s order.

And just a reminder it’s stressful enough for these kids, it’s tough on parents as this is not an all expenses paid trip, the moms and dads are pulling money out of the college fund unless YOU can help these young players with your gift of any amount.  And we have a link to a paypal channel in the news blog at boerneradio.com https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=E5QNA9JUZ2GNN

The Kendall County Commissioner's Court met yesterday to finalize the budget for the 2027 fiscal year, but found themselves slightly over budget. During their deliberation they cut a few major items to maintain their fund balance, including a space needs assessment, cutting 200k of an efficiency audit, putting a hiring freeze in place and slowing down the remodel of the Old Burick Center. The budget will officially be filed on Friday, which should be available to view on the county’s website.

Boerne and Kendall County officials are preparing proclamations recognizing August 17th as Nonprofit Day, celebrating the organizations that provide services throughout the community.

Hill Country Family Services has a new wish list for the month of August,  highlighting the current greatest needs for the corner cupboard. This month they are asking for donations of chicken broth, canned chili, diced tomatoes, canned spinach, peaches, and soup. But cash is where your dollar goes the furthest thanks to the food bank - $25 feeds a family of 4 for a week!  See what I mean at hcfstx.org.
