I’m Baron WileyKendall County has earned a 2026 County Best Practices Award from the Texas Association of Counties for its partnership with the Bergheim Volunteer Fire Department.  The recognition highlights a part-time staffing program that supplements volunteers and helps move the department toward consistent, around-the-clock station coverage.  Bergheim VFD manages hiring, scheduling, payroll and training. Its long-term goal is a minimum four-person crew on duty 24 hours a day, which department leaders say will require continued planning and sustainable funding.  According to the department, it’s Kendall County’s first TAC award in at least a decade. The Boerne Star reported yesterday that Kendall County Commissioner Andra Wisian was recently honored for her completion of a voluntary advanced course of study on county government titled Commissioners Court Advanced Curriculum. Wisian received a certificate of achievement after completing 64 hours of course study, now representing a statewide organization with more than 1,200 active members.
