Boerne Radio News is delivered to you by The Boerne Star….and by The Hill Country Animal League as the 6th annual Barktoberfest is this Saturday in Main Plaza from 10-4. Bring the kids, bring the pets, as there will be a petting zoo, the doggy dash, costume contest featuring your pets for prizes, a silent auction, food trucks, and if you don’t have a doggie, you may end up leaving with one as pet adoptions will also be on site, and it all supports your low cost spay and neutering friends at Hill Country Animal League. It’s Friday October 16th.
Well, fall has finally found Boerne — and apparently it brought a leaf blower with it. A Wind Advisory is in effect today until 7 o’clock tonight as a strong cold front moves through the Hill Country. Gusts possibly reaching 30 to 40 miles an hour. Tomorrow we’ll start the day in the mid-40s.
And tonight is another big Friday night for Boerne ISD football.
The Boerne Greyhounds head to Liberty Hill at 7 o’clock at Boerne ISD Stadium. We’ll carry that game here on Boerne Radio.
Boerne enters tonight unbeaten coming off last week’s 63-to-35 win over New Braunfels Long Creek.
The undefeated Champion Chargers host Seguin tonight at 7. That game will be at TexasSportsProduction.com
And if you’d like to do something good today, Cavender Chevrolet is hosting a South Texas Blood and Tissue blood drive from 11 until 4. Donors receive a T-shirt and a pair of SeaWorld tickets.
In an effort to recognize those that have served this country, veteran photos can be submitted to the Boerne Star for their Veterans Day Remembrance supplement next Sunday. They already received 174 veteran’s photos and descriptions from 2024 and 2025, so you do not have to resubmit those individuals. You can submit your individual’s name, branch of service, and other relevant information to jeff.flinn@boernestar.com through Wednesday at 5 pm. Attention Fair Oaks Folks! Contractors will be conducting micro seal operations on Noble Lark Drive and Kalkallo Drive today and Monday as part of the City’s ongoing roadway maintenance efforts. Drivers should be only slightly impacted, but there will be flaggers to direct traffic through the work zone.
