Comfort has one of the most unique Independence Day traditions in Texas, and you can experience it this tomorrow. The Comfort Little Theater invites everyone to a community celebration beginning at 5 p.m. in the courtyard behind Newsom Vineyards. The Uncle Joe Band will be playing, food and drinks on hand, and then the Comfort Little Theater will do thier live reenactment of the famous "Save the Beer" story. So back in the 1800s, settlers rushed to the sound of a warning cannon, expecting an Indian attack. But the emergency was not that… they discovered that several kegs of beer were about to spoil! So the good townsfolks of Comfort did what patriotic Texans do, and saved the beer. Bring a lawn chair and celebrate Comfort's one-of-a-kind history tomorrow... and yes, the festivities continue until the beer runs out!

And while we’re all getting ready for the parade in Comfort on Saturday, and the fireworks show in Boerne on Saturday night, tomorrow night is also the watch party for the Texas Monthly Presents docuseries on PBS - that’s happening at the Jones Event Center that showcases the great work of Found on the Guadalupe where Dondi Persyn’s team of 44 initial Boerne volunteers made this happen - 8 of drove 100 miles every day, then weekly for a year to serve our neighbors in Kerr County reuniting thousands of cherished belongings with their families after the flood. Hear the stories , meet some of the volunteers—and see how neighbors from Boerne, San Antonio, Kerrville, and beyond came together in extraordinary ways.  Arrive to the Jones Ranch by 6:30 and the viewing will start at 7.

In yesterday's Boerne Retail and Restaurant Owners Monthly Meeting at the Boerne Chamber it was announced that the Boerne Farmers Market that meets on Tuesdays from 4-7 in the parking lot of the old city hall building, will now move outside our Boerne Radio Richter studio windows at 153 Main….with the first night happening on Tuesday August 4th.

The Boerne Town Center Development is continuing on its way after the City approved the necessary permits for construction. The first phase of the project brought new retail spaces for Chipotle, Chicken Salad Chick and other chains-with Phase 2 now underway, other businesses will move in to the space, including Sprouts Farmer’s Market at the helm. As part of the project, trees will be removed, but the City will work with property owners to document every tree and preserve as many as possible. Planning Director Nathan Crane says that “If preservation is not possible, then we focus on replanting at the site”.

Tomorrow many city offices and businesses will be closed in honor of Independence Day. The Patrick Heath Public Library, City Hall, and the Boerne Chamber of Commerce will not be operating, but will resume normal hours on Monday.
