And it was on this date in 1969 Apollo 11 launched as it took 4 days to reach the moon where Neil Armstrong became the first person to step foot onto the lunar surface when they landed on July 21st.

Another historic day of flooding in the Hill Country and Boerne along the Cibolo Creek.  And thank you to city leaders of the past who had the vision to create Boerne City Lake because without it, this could have been much worse. 

The City of Boerne has issued a Disaster Declaration, signed by Mayor Frank Ritchie, due to severe weather and flooding. The City will be requesting additional resources from the state during and after this flooding event.

Boerne Utilities customers with service through WM can expect delays in their trash and recycling collections. Boerne Utilities will provide updates on collections timelines when available. Any missed collections will be addressed as soon as conditions permit.

There were three recorded water rescues along River Road when water flowed over Herff at the Esser Road intersection, and over 20 calls for help from other areas around Boerne.  

Flooding has receded along Cibolo Creek, but some low water crossings remain closed after the immense rain yesterday with potentially more rain on the way. 

Any additional rainfall today may cause re-opened roadways to quickly close again, so stay aware of emergency alerts and monitor water levels near your immediate homestead.

The Patrick Heath Public Library has received reports of an apparent scam targeting authors with false invitations to the Boerne Book Festival and asking for payment to join. Scammers have sent emails asking authors for their interest and to be featured as a "Featured Virtual Author” at a virtual festival.  The emails they use look official, but are not affiliated with any Boerne Government website. Although Library staff might email you about participation, they will never ask for payment to participate.
