It’s Friday July 24th. 

And it was on this date in 1969 that the Apollo 11 command module safely splashed down in the Pacific Ocean, successfully ending the historic first human moon-landing mission.   And born on that same day 57 years ago was Jennifer Lopez. Kristin Chenoweth is 58, and Pam Tillis is 59.

And happy birthdays go out to Boerne friends and neighbors Bob Ogle, Cookie Thrasher, Kiley Pulliam, and Sharon Barnhill.

Congratulations to Pastor Eric Waters at St. John Lutheran Church.  This Sunday he will be honored for his 25 years in ministry and the last 10 years at St. John.  From 9 to 9:30 in the Family Life Center will a reception with cake and fellowship, and a chance to tell him thank you for his leadership and service.

The Boerne Star reported yesterday that Boerne Resident Sean Patrick Long was found guilty of aggravated sexual assault of a child after a 5 day trial. Official sentencing will occur in late August, but he has been in jail since 2024 after Long fled to Mexico where authorities were able to locate and arrest him. 

The City of Fair Oaks Ranch is asking for locals to apply and serve on the Planning and Zoning Commission. The organization advises City Council on land-use matters such as comprehensive planning, zoning, and subdivision plats.  Applications are due July 30th. 

Tomorrow is the Boerne ISD Resource Rally from 9 to noon. Join the district at the Central Office to get assistance with registration, get immunizations and sports physicals, apply for after school programs and more. Half of the proceeds go back to the district's Student Support Services department to help them keep doing amazing things for students.
