It’s Friday November 8th. 

And it was on this date in 1960 that John F. Kennedy became the youngest man ever to be elected President of the United States at the age of 43.  Teddy Roosevelt was 42 but he moved up after the assassination of William McKinley.  Kennedy narrowly beat Republican Vice President Richard Nixon who served under Eisenhower.

Yesterday Boerne veteran lovers showed up at the Black Rifle Coffee on Main Street after lunch to honor Korean War Veteran Mr. Herbert Thrasher celebrating his 87th birthday.  Besides the rousing chorus of Happy Birthday, cake and coffee…dog treats were also served.  Mr. Thrasher, thank you for your service.

One week ago we reported right here that Hill Country Family Services received an industrial refrigerator from WalMart, and they held a contest to name the fridge… President of the Board of Directors Burt Grabo and Staci Almager announced the winning name as Egglo…submitted by Jamie Demski - you know the Demski’s from Tootie Pie, and now Jamie’s name will be put on the plaque on the front of Egglo.  

The German Club at Champion is hosting a walk to raise money for the Boerne Animal Care Services. As it starts to get colder, these little guys need as much help as they can get. The walk will take place on Monday evening at 6 pm, starting at Main Plaza and ending at Champion High School. It only costs $2 to enter, and you’ll be rewarded for your efforts with cookies and hot cocoa.
