It’s Thursday November 14th

. It was on this day in 1969 that Apollo 12 launched in pursuit of the moon. Their mission got off to a rocky start, as they were struck by lightning twice within the first minute of launching. Apollo 12 was the 6th successful manned space flight executed by the United States, the 2nd trip to the moon with Commander Charles “Pete” Conrad Jr. who was the 3rd man to ever walk the moon’s surface, followed by #4, Alan Bean…and poor Richard Gordon only got to pilot the command module…but someone had to do it.

The Kendall County Blue Santa Program is back like pumpkin spice but twice as nice. The Boerne and Fair Oaks Ranch Police Departments, as well as the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office are looking for donations of new, unwrapped gifts. Each department has an amazon wish list, but bring a $10 toy to Boerne Radio’s Boost Boerne Business event on December 4th at the Bevy Hotel, you could win a $500 credit on Boerne Radio.

The Boerne Education Foundation held their annual fundraiser a couple of days ago and the finals numbers are in - $196,000 in Teacher Innovation Grants. These grants will empower the teachers to take learning to new heights and make a difference in the lives of our students. The National Weather Service has reported an elevation to critical fire conditions forecasted across the western three quarters of South Central Texas, including Kendall County. Of course we have the burn ban already established, please…no welding in your dried out barn.
