At the Gala for The Cibolo Center for Conservation on Saturday night, Founder and recently retired CEO Carolyn Chipman Evans was honored by the new CEO Thomas Mengler with the announcement that the historic barn at the Cibolo is officially named after her and Brent Evans - a wonderful surprise after her 36 years of service.
Yesterday afternoon an 18 wheeler crashed into Morning Side Storage, which is just off the Eastbound Access Road of I-10 where North Main dead ends… Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the crash, including the Kendall County Sheriff's Office and the Boerne PD. The story starts at the Pilot Truck Stop in Junction after a robbery - Junction is in Kimble County, and the stolen truck headed south into Kerr County. After his tires were spiked at Joshua Creek, it finally ended here in Kendall County with that crash. The driver was arrested and several charges are pending. No one was hurt in the robbery.
The Boerne Star broke the news that Yadira Leal Faherty of Boerne has been recognized as a Woman of the Month for August 2024 by P.O.W.E.R.which stands for Professional Organization of Women of Excellence Recognized. The Fall 2024 Issue of P.O.W.E.R. magazine recognized her for her contributions and achievements in government/disaster management. Faherty is a disaster case manager with National Emergency Response, providing critical support to families affected by declared disasters, and has been working in this field for 8 years. Other recipients of the honor include Jane Seymour, Tamron Hall and Jenny McCarthy.
The Boerne Chamber of Commerce is holding two important Ribbon cuttings this week honoring local businesses. Tomorrow at 1:30, Trio Rehab will be celebrating the addition of their RISE program, which is meant to help people with Parkinson’s with slowing the progression of their disease and help improve symptoms. The second ribbon cutting will be for The AgriCultural and Arts Center on Thursday at 4 pm. Everyone in the community is welcome, and there is rumored to be sneak preview of the coming tractor pull with a special guest. See you there.
