It’s Monday, August 18th.

And before Amazon.com, the first mail order catalog was published on this date in 1872…153 years ago today…  Mr. Montgomery Ward put together 163 items on a single sheet of paper and included a money-back guarantee.  Montgomery Ward became a leading department store chain that operated up until 2001 and is now online at wards.com

Tomorrow at 11:30 is the Ribbon Cutting for the Kendall County Fair Association as we celebrate the 119th Annual Kendall County Fair over Labor Day Weekend…have you seen this years line up of acts performing?  I see Luke Prater, Glen Templeton - he just played at the Grand Ol Opery, and Coffey Anderson who’s from Bangs, Texas and a lot of fun.  The celebration starts with a parade on Main Street, the biggest one of the year on August 30th, there’s the rodeo, the carnival, the shopping, and the food…Get your tickets now at KCFA.org.

Last weekend, Boerne ISD received its 6th consecutive A-rating from the Texas Education Agency. In 2024 the district received the rating with 28 distinctions, and this year walked away with 27. Superintendent Dr. Craft said: Our theme for this year is ‘Legacy Built, Future Ready,’ and today’s TEA scores embody that theme”.

Chief Instructional Officer Larrissa Flores attributes the success to “our students...surpassing expectations and doing more of the high-impact learning we’re known for providing than ever before”.

If you’re keeping score against our city to the south, San Antonio ISD, Northside ISD and North East ISD — all got C ratings.

The Geneva School of Boerne broke ground on Wednesday on its long-awaited I-10 access after its 26th year open.  The 1.9 million dollar project includes over a quarter mile of driveway and major drainage improvements, as well as two gate points, fencing and a security booth. Construction should take about 4 months and improve accessibility and safety for the school.
