And it was on this date in 1865 that President Andrew Johnson issued a proclamation declaring armed resistance in the South is virtually at an end.  This is the commonly accepted end date of the American Civil War.

Boerne Utilities has released their 2023 Drinking Water Quality Report, and once again, our water meets or exceeds the federal drinking water requirements. The report details the amount of naturally occurring elements, as well as potentially dangerous substances, and showed no significant amounts in our supply. Boerne Utilities will be holding a Public Participation Opportunity to discuss the Water Quality on August 28th at 5 pm at City Council.   Which is cutting it close to get home and watch The Wheel.

Mayor Frank Ritchie by proclamation has declared the month of May to be Mental Health Awareness Month in recognition of the people working to combat the growing mental health crisis, and I dare say Kendall County is leading the way.  Mayor Ritchie has been partnering with our Boerne Police, our Kendall County Sheriff's Office, and Boerne ISD, and Hill Country Family Services with Bryce Boddy and Staci Almager in the Kendall County Health Advisory Coalition. The declaration highlights the work that the group has done for behavioral health issues, identifying resources maybe you didn’t know exist, and also honoring the hard work of those in our community that help every day. 

Congratulations to our talented Champion Students who participated in the State UIL Wind Ensemble Festival this week. Four Chargers were named outstanding performers and received UIL state gold medals!  Those students are Sierra Fridley, EmmaLeigh Juarez, Jon Flores, and Evan Rodriguez…
