It’s Thursday May 2nd. 

And it’s the National Day of Prayer.

It originally was tied to Thanksgiving in the Fall by Abraham Lincoln, and much later in the Spring by Harry Truman in 1952.  It was during the Reagan administration it was established on the first Thursday of May.  The National Day of Prayer event in Main Plaza here in Boerne will be available on demand on the Boerne Radio Facebook Page.

Many talented Boerne artists competed in the The Visual Arts Scholastic Event, which is a competition for all of the arts students in the State. Boerne Junior Brayden Gardner earned the state’s highest honor, the Gold Seal, for the second year in a row. Other students from BISD won state awards as well, including Mikala Jones, Reese Shaffer, Ryan Vogt, Caroline Cabral, and Kennedy Holland. 

Tomorrow evening is the Boerne Park and Rec’s Monthly Movie in the Park. The games start at 7 with games and bounce houses, and then once the sun goes down Puss and Boots: The Last Wish will start. Thanks to the Patrick Heath Library, the Happy Tails Mobile petting zoo will also be there. 

And in other animal news, there are flyers flying around Cordillera offering a reward for a missing monkey.  The flyers are printed in Spanish and say the monkey is muy asustado or scared, and if you see the money , no perseguir -do not chase.  If you see the monkey, please call 248-701-8111…
