And it was on this date in 1955 that Disneyland opened in Anaheim, California-and covering the live broadcast on television was Ronald Reagan and produced by Art Linkletter who was also celebrating his 43rd birthday - he was born in 1912.

Boerne Radio would like to tip our hat to our great Boerne businesses who over delivered in our community yesterday- Sauced Wing Bar provided lunch for the Boerne Fire Department, and Las Gutiarras Cocina Mexicana offered free plates of food to the public all day. Comfort High School offered refuge as a temporary shelter throughout the week, and the Center continued delivering their Meals on Wheels program to seniors in Boerne.  The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country also announced that they were launching the Texas Hill Country Relief Fund to support their 10 county service areas affected by the flooding. 

Residents of Fair Oaks Ranch were also impacted by the flooding, but yesterday were informed by the city that 75,000 gallons of domestic wastewater had been discharged into Cibolo Creek. Floodwaters overwhelmed the bottom of the Hill Lift Station, causing the pumps to fail and an upstream manhole near Cojak Circle to overflow. As of now, the City’s water system has not been affected and continues to meet drinking water standards. If you live within City limits, attempt to avoid contact with floodwater, don’t fish, and boil or used distilled water if you have a private well. 

For our neighbors up in Kerrville and Ingram, at least one person is dead after catastrophic flooding swept across Kerr County yesterday. Torrential rain—nearly 19 inches in Ingram alone—destroyed or damaged homes and businesses and washed out several bridges. Kerrville and Kerr County have declared local disasters as crews continue rescues and evacuations. Numerous highways and roads remain closed, including Interstate 10 west of Kerrville. Officials warn more river rise is possible, though rain chances are expected to ease today. 

Singing Water Vineyards found that their livestock and equipment were all accounted for, but more importantly, that their family and staff were all safe.
