Thank you Carlin Friar - President of the Bank and Trust here in Boerne and also your Boerne ISD Trustee in Place 1 - on the last day of the first week of school!
It’s Friday August 15th.
And it was on this date 56 years ago today more than more than 400,000 people headed towards the event billed as "An Aquarian Exposition: 3 Days of Peace & Music” in Bethel, New York, better known as Woodstock, even tho’ the concert was 60 miles away from Woodstock, New York.
Richie Havens was the first artist to perform the next day and had to do a double set because the next band Sweetwater couldn’t get to the stage in time because of the crowd.
Boerne resident Jim George was there - and confesses the memory is a little foggy - wonder why - but had this to say:

I’m Baron Wiley.
The Boerne Police Department had a special visit yesterday from a hero trying to feed as many first responders as possible. Since the July 4th Floods, Edgar Zamorano, who owns Operation Taco, has been cooking for as many emergency providers as he can. Edgar was presented with the Community Champion award yesterday by the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce, as he also took care of the Boerne Fire Department and the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office.
The non-profit known as Wheelchairs for Warriors, based just south of Houston, will be rolling into Boerne next Tuesday at the Black Rifle Coffee Company…yeah…Local US Army Veteran, Boerne resident, Paralympic Gold Medal Champion Jason Tabansky is being honored with a state-of-the-art adaptive sports wheelchair and power assist. Wheelchairs for Warriors preaches “no man left behind AT HOME” - and if you’d like to thank or support this great nonprofit, their website is wheelchairsforwarriors.org - but meet us at The Black Rifle on Tuesday morning at 10 for the presentation.
Fair Oaks Parkway is being restriped today, which may affect traffic for those who live in the area. If that isn't exciting enough, on Monday, City staff will start placing topsoil and reseeding areas on Fair Oaks Parkway between Dietz Elkhorn Road and Windermere Drive.
Boerne Radio News is delivered to you by The Boerne Star and by the Bank and Trust of Boerne on Bandera Road, led by President Carlin Friar.
