On this date in 1845, Texas entered the Union as the 28th State.

Before that Texas had 4 presidents - Sam Houston, Mirabeau Lamar, Sam Houston again, and finally Anson Jones.  The first Governor of Texas was James Henderson.

Tragedy struck Main Street on Tuesday night when a beloved Boerne friend and neighbor was crossing South Main Street and was struck by a vehicle near the Las Guitarras Mexican Restaurant.  First responders performed live-saving measures for the 76 year old Sharon Gibbs - she later died at University Hospital.  The driver remained at the scene and is not facing charges.  

This is Boerne’s fourth traffic fatality in 2022, and the first pedestrian-related traffic death for the year.
