It’s Thursday August 7th. 

And today is National Purple Heart Day…commemorating the date in 1782 when General George Washington created the National Badge of Merit which became the Purple Heart.  Three cheers for Boerne’s own Purple Heart Project that honors Purple Heart Heroes and provides resources to veterans - you can learn more about them at purpleheartpro.org.

Texas Legal Services Center has set up their first legal kiosk in Boerne and Kendall County at the Patrick Heath Public Library. This new resource gives residents free access to critical legal resources without having to travel far. The kiosk is open from 10 to 4 during the week and functions as a virtual legal aid center. You can live chat with legal professionals, participate in virtual court hearings and fill out applications for free legal aid.

Over the past several days crews have been working on re-painting all the school's crosswalks to prepare for the first day of school.  The school flashing signs are also up in working order, so make sure to pay attention to them during school hours. 

If your home, business or property were affected by the flooding here in Kendall County, now is the time to report it. You can fill out the application at damage.tdem.texas.gov- it will only take a few minutes but can have significant impacts.
