It’s Tuesday, April 1st.
And it’s National Volunteer Month, encouraging you to thank a volunteer or be a volunteer as part of President George H. W. Bush’s 1000 Points of Light campaign in 1991.
It’s also National Autism Awareness Month, National Parkinson’s Disease Month, and April Fools Day.
I’m Baron Wiley.
Tonight on Main Street, the Kendall County Tea Party is hosting a City of Boerne Candidate Forum at The Tusculum Brewing Company. You’ll witness the first meeting of incumbent Mayor Frank Ritchie and Laura Haning… then the rematch of incumbent Sharon Wright and Joe Bateman for City Council District 2 - and also on hand will be City Council District 4 incumbent and candidate Bret Bunker. The event starts at 6:30. Voter Registration deadline is this Thursday…early voting begins April 22nd and goes to the 29th. Election Day is May 3rd.
Today marks the start of the updated drought contingency plan for Fair Oaks Ranch, and here are some of the most important changes. The City is transitioning from a 3-stage plan to a 4-stage plan. The updated stage 3 conditions will limit landscape irrigation to every other week, it will prohibit power washing, and limit drip irrigation to Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Under Stage 4, drip irrigation will be permitted only once a week.
The Boerne Chamber of Commerce is hosting two ribbon cuttings this Thursday. The first will be to celebrate Garner Custom Homes at 11:30, and the second will be for Shoegroove at 1:30.
And welcome to Boerne Officer J. Guerrero! Chief Perez swore in the new recruit yesterday afternoon, and we are excited to see him working his beat.

And by Boerne’s newest restaurant coming to River Road - it’s a Brazillian-style steakhouse that’s way more affordable than the ones in San Antonio. This restaurant will feature the Hill Country’s finest cuts of meat from fresh venison, duck, opossum, raccoon, and ask about the fresh hit of the day…the restaurant will be called River Road Kill…and is opening today on this April Fools Day.
