On June 21, 1978, a tractor operator cultivating a grape vineyard near Arvin, California, uncovered a shallow grave. The remains were already in a partial skeletal state making visual identification impossible. Investigators estimated the teen died three to four months before her remains were found. Unable to identify the remains, the case went cold but not forgotten. Joseph Scott Morgan and Dave Mack discuss the case and why it took 48 years to determine who the identity of the teen known to locals as Kern County Jane Doe 1978.
