Florida's Farm Victory & Epstein Files Bombshell: Rep. Laurel Lee's Urgent Update

On this first day of October 2026, Bill Bunkley opens The Briefing live from Tampa with the inspiring dedication of MercyMed of Tampa, a brand-new free medical clinic in the underserved Sulphur Springs neighborhood. Serving as master of ceremonies, Bill shares the vision of Pastor Ken Witten (Idlewild Baptist Church emeritus), the history of the area—from indigenous healing springs and early 20th-century tourist destination with America’s first indoor arcade “mall,” to the landmark 1927 water tower—and how the clinic continues that legacy of healing for residents without insurance. He then sits down with Dr. Ron Hunter Jr., author of the new book Backward Discipleship, to confront the sobering reality that roughly two-thirds of church-raised kids walk away from their faith by young adulthood. They discuss shifting from short-term youth programs to intentional, long-term family discipleship rooted in Deuteronomy 6, practical tools like the “tennis ball” conversation method and “mad-glad-sad” check-ins, and the five key characteristics that help the one-third stay faithful. The show rounds out with political and current-events coverage: Vice President J.D. Vance’s midterm rally at Lakeland Linder International Airport, President Trump’s stop at the Peterbilt plant in Denton, Texas, growing concerns over possible Iranian links to the RAF Fairford airbase arrests and the Flydubai cockpit incident, and the successful SpaceX Crew-13 launch to the International Space Station aboard the Dragon spacecraft Grace.

MercyMed Free Clinic Opens in Sulphur Springs + Backward Discipleship with Dr. Ron Hunter Jr

On the final day of September 2026, Bill Bunkley’s Briefing delivered urgent breaking news of a terrifying mid-air drama that nearly ended in catastrophe. FlyDubai Flight FZ1073, a Boeing 737 MAX 8 carrying roughly 160–180 passengers (mostly Israelis) from Dubai to Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport, was over Jordanian airspace when the co-pilot (reported as an Omani national) launched a violent attack on the captain (an Indian national, Captain Samit Machchhar / similar spelling variants). The co-pilot stabbed the pilot multiple times in an apparent attempt to seize control and crash the aircraft—transponder codes briefly switched to 7700 (general emergency) and 7500 (hijacking/unlawful interference). The plane plunged nearly 17,400 feet in under two minutes, generating such extreme G-forces that the tail rudder was reportedly ripped off. In a moment of extraordinary heroism, the severely wounded captain managed to unlock the cockpit door; Israeli passengers and an off-duty airline crew then stormed the flight deck bare-handed, subdued the attacker, and regained control. The aircraft made an emergency landing at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia (near the Israeli border). All passengers ultimately reached Israel safely after replacement aircraft were arranged; the captain was hospitalized in stable condition. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz labeled it an attempted jihadist terrorist attack, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the stabbed pilot as a “true hero.” U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee and others echoed the relief and admiration for the passengers’ actions—evoking the spirit of Flight 93. FlyDubai suspended Israel routes pending investigation. The show also covered a Florida mother arrested for leaving four young children (including a 2-month-old) home alone while she took a three-day Bahamas cruise, California’s new recognition of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha as state holidays amid criticism of unequal treatment of other faiths, a UK counter-terror arrest near RAF Fairford, and a practical Medicare open-enrollment segment with Fernando Suspedes of Family Focus Insurance Solutions.

Terror in the Skies Averted: FlyDubai Flight FZ1073 Near-Crash Over Jordan After Co-Pilot Stabs Captain – Heroes Storm Cockpit

On this September 29, 2026 edition of The Bill Bunkley Show, broadcast live from Tampa on Salem Radio’s Let’s Talk Faith and The Answer platforms, host Bill Bunkley opens with the rollout of america.gov—an AI-powered, conversational one-stop portal designed as a customer-friendly front door to the entire federal government. Powered in part by Gemini and Grok, the site lets users search official sources and complete transactions without navigating thousands of static .gov websites. Trump signed an executive order directing every federal agency to integrate services and forms into the portal, with AI tech leaders including Mark Zuckerberg (Meta), Greg Brockman (OpenAI), Jensen Huang (Nvidia), Sundar Pichai (Google), Satya Nadella (Microsoft), and Dario Amodei (Anthropic) present at the White House alongside VP JD Vance and Speaker Mike Johnson (Senate Majority Leader John Thune was notably absent). Bunkley frames the moment against the broader AI race with China, warning that Beijing will not slow down or self-regulate and may eventually offer advanced tools free to embed surveillance, while the U.S. prioritizes dominance in “superintelligence” over moratoriums or heavy regulation. He also covers the Ratepayer Protection Act to shield utility customers from higher energy costs driven by massive AI data centers.

Later, Todd Nettleton of Voice of the Martyrs joins to discuss the newly updated classic The Voice of the Martyrs: A.D. 33 to Today (building on John Foxe’s 16th-century work), which chronicles 86 stories of 21st-century Christian martyrs. Nettleton stresses that the core experience—tasting the presence of Christ so deeply that threats cannot erase it—remains the same across centuries, whether facing Roman emperors or modern regimes. Practical ministry work includes persecution response (shelter, medical aid), Bible delivery into restricted nations (over a million last year), and support for frontline evangelism in more than 70 countries. Bunkley reads a sample account of Rico Pino, killed in Colombia’s FARC-controlled red zones for sharing the gospel, and urges listeners to pray via persecution.com while placing the book in a visible home location for daily reading.

The hour also features caller Okie, who praises Bunkley’s testimony, stresses the urgency of seeking truth amid rising Sharia concerns and cultural drift, and notes the high rate of Christian martyrdom in places such as Nigeria. Bunkley shares a personal update on his ongoing radiation treatments at Moffitt Cancer Center for aggressive basal-cell skin cancer and uses a family-puzzle analogy for unfolding biblical prophecy. He reports intensified Iranian security measures—motorcycle patrols, new checkpoints, phone searches, and student protests amid economic pressure and “Sacred Defense Week”—and calls for prayer for Persian Christians and others suffering under the regime. Closing segments cover Florida’s redesigned driver’s license (featuring Castillo de San Marcos, Space Shuttle Discovery, oranges, manatees, and alligators) and a complaint filed against state Rep. and U.S. Senate candidate Angie Nixon for allegedly omitting more than $10,000 in IRS and student-loan debts from federal disclosures while listing them on state filings. Throughout, Bunkley weaves themes of religious liberty, end-times awareness, gratitude for American freedoms, and the call to finish strong in faith.
