Today, we shine the spotlight on the importance of eye health and care. Regular eye examinations help detect conditions early and prevent avoidable vision loss. According to research, avoidable blindness and vision impairment are major global health concerns. The World Health Organization estimates that at least 1 billion people worldwide have a vision impairment that could have been
prevented or treated.

Six people have died after an alleged food contamination incident at Mmotong-wa-Bogobe village, outside Polokwane in Limpopo.
 
The victims include a seven-year-old girl.
 
More than 70 people have been taken to hospital.
Those affected ate food allegedly laced with poison during a funeral service over the weekend.
 
Polokwane municipal ward councillor Jacob Ntlemo says some community members have been discharged from hospital.
