This weekend saw the start of NAIDOC Week which celebrates 50 years of a week-long celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and achievements.
Originating with the 1938 Day of Mourning protest on 26 January, what is now known as National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) is held across Australia each July it’s celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life.
The theme of this year's NAIDOC Week is 'The Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy.'
