Sunrise to Sunset: Two Ancient Cultures, One Timeless Rhythm: Australia Meets Morocco - A Journey of Music, Myth, and Movement.

Recently, Moroccan audiences were swept into a spellbinding journey from the red heart of Australia to the golden sands of the Sahara.

Sunrise to Sunset, a cross-cultural performance bridging continents and centuries, delivered an unforgettable series of shows and workshops in Casablanca and Rabat.

Fresh from this round of dynamic performances, Sunrise to Sunset proved itself not just as a show, but as a living dialogue - a moving tapestry of story, rhythm, and spirit.

From ancient First Nations Australian to Moroccan Amazigh stories, the performance celebrated the shared humanity of two ancestral people of the land whose traditions echo across time and terrain.

Rooted in deep respect and driven by contemporary artistic expression, the show intertwined dance, stories, visuals and music to honour ancestral knowledge and celebrate cultural survival. It was more than entertainment; it was a ceremony of exchange — bold, beautiful, and necessary.

Audiences left transformed Critics called it “a poetic collision of worlds that feels both ancient and fiercely now.”

Sunrise to Sunset reminds us that while oceans and continents may separate us, story is a universal compass.  This collaboration redefines what it means to connect - from sunrise to sunset, and beyond.

The project's artistic Director and Producer, Maysoun Bouga, my guest on Belly today, describes it as a vibrant mix of narrative, musique and movement.

Born in Casablanca to an Amazigh family from the Souss region, Maysoun Bouga still treasures the priceless moments of her childhood spent with her grandparents. They spoke Tachelhit - she didn’t - but she listened carefully, absorbing the stories they shared in the language of their ancestors.

The Sunrise to Sunset connects two worlds by sharing and honouring of first nations culture using music, theatre and storytelling to bridge the distance between Maysoun's two homes and provides a glimpse into her indigenous culture of Morocco, the Amazigh culture.
