Welcome back to Bachelor Happy Hours, Golden Hour. Thanks for joining us. We are so excited to be back. It's a new year, it's a new Kathy and a new Susan. How are you doing?

Hey, We're doing pretty good. We're so happy to be back, and you need to check out our latest episodes because we've been having so much fun answering questions and chatting with your bachelor NAIs and favorite boy.

Do we have one today? We have so the special guest today from Jones season of The Golden Bachelorette. Please welcome Chalk Water Chalk to Joan. How are you.

Hello, ladies. I'm doing okay, except for the cold that Susan gave me.

I didn't. She gave it to me to Chalk. We even getting fine, getting fine.

Other son, I just say really quick. It was so much fun, ladies and gentlemen listening. We just spent time with him and Joan and we had so much fun getting to know him. But he hung with four or five women for four days and never complained, never complained.

I wouldn't say he didn't complain. I would say he fit right in. He didn't that he didn't complain about he's now one of the girls, one of the girl.

I've got a little little bit of real man left.

So so I want I have I have so many burning questions. The first one is which I have not believed. Have not asked you this before. When Joan was on our show, she was so quiet at the At the Talent Show, Joan said, I'm so shy. I'm out of my comfort zone. I don't talk very much. That girl is vaccinated with a phonograph needle. She talks. Are you surprised out of the bubble, how outgoing and talkingive she is and not the shy demeanor that she initially comes at you with.

Well, as I mentioned before, Kathy, I never watched it previous episodes, so I really other than what I read, I really didn't know. Yeah, so she does talk. I talk a little bit once I get going, but she does talk. But we're a great couple. We enjoy each other.

Yes, well that was obvious. And the other thing that we Susan and I were just talking to about, we want to know, uh, your your You were smartly brought those keys to the finale, to those like still the deal mode. We interviewed Guy and we were like his mistake was not bringing the mountains a beach house. So have you guys found a place? Tell us what's going on with that?

Well, we did find one that we really liked, Kathy, and it was in Soho. That's where Joan really really likes the area. And I wonder if it's because of shopping Gucci and all these other places. I really don't know if that has.

I don't think Joan likes high end items at all, So that's probably.

We're going to talk about that a little bit because I have a couple of questions for you too late. But Soho and we've found a place. It was what we really liked. We put a soft offer in on it, and then we just turned back around noon, just a couple hours ago, that the owner is going to take it off the market. So we'll continue to look. We'll find something.

Wow. Well, and you've got your family coming. It's just how's that going with the melding of the families?

Oh, it's perfect. You know. I saw one of the headings on social media going, kids are having a problem. We can't keep the kids away from each other. And my daughter talks to her daughters the boys. I'm going to bring them to a basketball game at KU Kansas University. Go Hawks. We're going to do that in the latter part of January. So we all get along great. We had a big dinner with all the kids when I was back for Thanksgiving and it's actually gone smooth. The positive of the easy thing about this, Kathy, though, is they're young adults. They're really not kids. There are kids, but they're young adults and they're leading their own lives. So they've been trained, they know how to act, and they're all supportive of Joe.

All your children, we know how well they are.

Well except except one night I think Susan had to help Tyler that was hotel after a party, but.

He shouldn't find that key, Yeah, he couldn't find Speaking of keys, you you brought a set and he couldn't find his. But your kids are Your kids are great, So that's the question. And then Susan, all I want to know about the weekend that you had recently with your guy friends from this show. How did that tell us all about?

Tell us about Well, uh, we had talked about this because a couple of guys said they hey wanted to go to a Chiefs game. But what a weekend. And I got to tell you there with you excuse me?

Who was with you?

Well it was Keith, Jordan, Uh, Dan was there and then uh that was it? How can I forget?

Or perspiring minds want to know? Is is Dan dating Edith? And is Jordan dating Leslie?

You know, as a gentleman, I won't answer that question. I'll let them. I'll let you answer that question, I asked them. But fairness to them. I think if anything that it needs to come from either one of those two. All right, But if I can't tell you, Keith has the most outdoing personality of anyone I met in my life, and he is the glue to keep so much of these guys together. He was very helpful putting this weekend together. But I mean the guy would talk to anybody. He had bracelets for the fans. Jordan, and you know, Jordan, I've talked about this ten times.

I want to get to know him. He wasn't there at the finale. Now, Gary's such a lover, just a warm and affectionate guy, and but Jordan wasn't there, so I don't know.

Well, and with Jordan's he and he and I talked about this, Susan. He has one of the most funniest, the funniest personality you'll have to be. He had us going the whole time, and the fans didn't really get to see all that on the show, but he just I mean, I was extitched the whole week yet and it was like we had dinner, drinks, and they treated the fans with a lot of respect too. We never turned down photographed, you know, with anyone, and Keith was hating out Bracelet's. It was a lot of fun. The Chiefs won, So it's really a perfect weekend.

When you ever went on and there's so many questions, you know, do you think you would get engaged? Did you think you would make such great friends? I mean, I know you've been on other podcasts and you've talked about these things, but really, for you, you hit the bonanza. You know, you found this beautiful woman, you made these great guy friends. How was it being in the in the mansion? Susan and I feel like, because we know Joan, we surmised pretty quickly that you were the guy. You were the guy. I mean, it was pretty clear to us that you were the guy. But it was tell me what it was like on the show. Did did you feel it quickly with Joan? Did she feel it quickly?

Well, and I'll reiterate this too. So I had no idea, Kathy. I had no idea what I was, what I was getting into, you know, because I hadn't watched anything, So I had no idea. And it was Disneyland that changed the whole journey for me. Is just you know, when she got off the train, we held hands, we walked around, and we talked, and it was almost an entire day of just talking and we got along great, and we talked about some private things that were on camera, which really made me feel good. And then that was just the start of a budding relationship and it just got better and better every day since. Other than these times she was kissing these other seven or eight times.

I was just going to say, how did you feel when it came up to not Dan, excuse me, guy? And you were you confident in that moment and those hours prior to the very last part.

Well, let me say this guy, guy is a great guy, and he and I were friends and we still are friends. He said, we were our beds were right next to each other and we and a considerable amount of time just talking, and Guy made a prediction. He goes, It's going to be you and me at the end, and I just felt very the hometowns really, I knew the connection was there. I knew Joan was my lady, you know, the lady I wanted to be with. But the hometowns really really got me the confidence I really did. This is kind of my personality. I don't really care about the other people. I mean I do from an interpersonal standpoint, but from a competitive standpoint, that just wasn't a concern about it. I knew Joan and I were getting along great in Tahiti, on one of the islands. When we met up. I mean, it was just it was like we were meant to be together.

I want to know what is the because you know, we've all been married, we've all had that aha moment, We've all had disappointments in our lives. When you met Joan, clearly she's beautiful, and you came on the show knowing that that you know she's beautiful. But what was when you met her? What was the thing the thing that you went, WHOA, this really is my woman? What is the thing that drew you to her. Besides her looks, which are fabulous, yea, let's let's.

Let's not even talk about that. It was her boys, her frankly, her honesty, some of those conversations that we had, and at the dinner at Disneyland where we both talked about our significant others that had passed, and it was like I was talking to an old friend that I go, ah, I could be in a relationship with this person, and that there was a commonality there. And like I've said, and I do mean this is I'm in no way, especially when the kids competing with John. I've heard great things. One of his good friends told me, he goes you guys would have if he was still alive. You guys met each other and be very good friends. So just complimentary on that. But it was, you know that all haul moment happened three or four times, but really the hometowns. When Joe came back to Wichita and I introduced her to my family and friends, I go, this is this is the person that I want.

It feels you know it.

Okay, So Susan and I are both touchy, pheelly people, and I gotta I got to put you on the hot seat for a minute, and I hug everyone. We're touchy feeling people. Joan, if she never touches someone again in her life out in public, that girl is a no PDA. We want to know. We were dying laughing chalk that we.

Were surprised because I've always hugged her. She'd probably has been going the whole time.

Oh God, here she comes. When you guys were at the bowling alley and your arm is around her, everyone else thought that she was like uncomfortable with her arm around here, and Susan and I are like, no, that's just Joan. She you know that. We knew that. But but that's our nation. The world didn't know that. They're thinking, oh, Chock's making her feel uncomfortable. No, not at all.

That's guys were uncomfortable.

I think.

So yeah, on that topic, it's very interesting, joanahknife joke. Is it a Midwestern thing? Is it an East Coast west?

No, it is not an East coast thing. We're here to defend them.

That's what you ladies taught me. But I am. I'm getting Joan to open up a little bit because I do want it, and I think she's getting more comfortable with it. But I have a friend of mine that I see him in the gym five times a week. He gives me a hug and before we leave, he's like, I love you, brother, And you know some people would have a problem with that, but I mean, he is a big professional rugby player giving me a hug, and it makes you feel good. He has taught me that it feels good. It does, and hopefully Joan, hopefully she sees it this way, we all have our first.

Between the three of us kissing and hugging her. She's going to get to definitely get used to it. Yes, okay, So what we do here is people submit questions and we give them our advice. Would you join us on this?

Absolutely my plasure.

Thank you. Okay, this one's from Lily. Hi, ladies and Jock, I need your help. How do you know if you're ready to get married. I've been with my boyfriend for four years now, and we both comfortably talked about one day getting married. I know he's the one, but the thought of actually planning a wedding and getting married kind of makes me freak out. When I think about marrying him. I'm really happy and excited, but when I think about actually planning it, or just the idea of a wedding being soon gets me really anxious. What is that for content? I'm twenty six, thank you?

Okay, wait wait wait, I just have to say to talk. I know that you're very nervous and not wanting a wedding with Joan very soon. So we're going to be very interested in our opinions.

Well, I was going to have two questions, how old is this person? Twenty lady? And then is this our first or second marriage?

Sounds like that first.

When my mother taught me is the person you want to be with is somebody that makes your life better?

Yeah.

If they don't make your life better, walk away. And I do believe that. So that's just my personal opinion as people look at their relationships.

I think she's more nervous about planning the things a lot.

Well, I was going to go to me to the anxiety of it, because a lot of times the mothers get involved, and a lot of weddings are for the mothers where they want a big wedding.

My daughter did that, do what you want?

Mom?

I said, black eyes? She said, whatever you want.

Mom. When I got married, it was small. We limited to fifty people, and we did it on top of Steamboat Springs and it was absolutely gorgeous and it was perfect. But there is anxiety and you have the issues where you don't invite enough people. Write people. I was at a wedding where they had a friend do the efficient officiating and they had no brides grooms or brides men. Just say it was a big wedding.

Wait a second. Two things I want to say. One is if you and Joan when you get married. I was kidding. Of course, anyone who has listened to you more than five seconds knows you would marry Joan yesterday. Am I correct?

Yes, absolutely, yeah.

So that's that's number one. I want to straighten that out in case anyone thought I was being serious on that line. The second one is if you have a wedding, and it's could I please, please like have some role in the wedding. I've never been in a wedding ever.

Well, well, and you have my vote. But as every guy says, the lady's going to make the rule.

This guy, I am sating smart and I don't know when I got married Chalk. I was twenty years old and my father true story married four daughters in eighteen months, four big wedding celebrations at country clubs, you know, the whole nine yards. Four in eighteen months. And I'm the only one, by the way, who's still married. Well, I mean, my husband passed away, but I'm the other one whose marriage lasted. But I didn't really plan my wedding my mom. I was young, My mom, did you know it was? I mean, now, I would like to plan a wedding, but I think that weddings are stressful.

Oh absolutely, they just are. And then you have the economic part of it, where a lot of times the parents will go, well, we'll give you X amount. If you don't spend it, you can use it on a down a house. Yes, that adds to the anxiety as well, so good luck.

Let us know you do this, and if not, you can, Elope, I mean you can.

And by the way, you've known this guy since you were twenty two years old, so you know, give it some time.

Make sure you come over and I'll officiate. Nobody has there. I mean, we can do that.

So Chuck, I want to know because Jon's not here, So whatever you say is what's going to happen. Would you want a big wedding, a small wedding, a TV wedding, a not a TV wedding. What do you want? A lope, Susan to marry you, Kathy to be your best man? What do you want?

I want?

Oh, Susan, I'm going to cry.

I'm on, well, you're too good to be through well.

And I want her to do what she really wants to do. Like I told her, I had a little thing as I said, what to where, where to be? And uh what time to show up?

A Bachelor Nation. If you think this guy is slinging it, he's not. He's spent a weekend with him recently. In Joan, this guy is you are the common I'm talking third person here, Chuck, you were so kind to all of us. You Is Joan match your outfit? You want shopping? This guy actually likes to go shopping. I mean it's craziness.

He likes to be He's got style. I watched shoes.

Yes, I know everything you let Joan dress you in the actual taste good. I mean, how have you been on the market for more than ten minutes?

I will tell you that I can shop with a lady with Joan as long as there's a dude.

Chair, yes, probably in front of a bar and a foot ball game. Yes, so before we.

Have a fun little game now, okay, and we want to do it before we have to wrap on today's episode. It's fun. They're easy questions and this way Bachelor Nation can know you even a little bit more.

Are you ready?

Right?

So I want to take the first question here and just give us the real truth. Okay, if you were stranded on a deserted island and you could only bring three guys from the mansion, who would you bring?

Keith because he'd entertain me, okay, Jordan because he would be funny, and then Jack because he could cook.

See, this is a guy. This is a strategic guy, I think strategically. Yeah, all right.

Well, I will tell you when we asked Guy that question, you were one of the people that he chose. Okay, what's one piece of advice you wish you could give your younger self?

Well, I've always worked hard, but don't take everything so personal. And this show has taught me this, and social media has taught me that as well.

Don't listen to social media. Okay, I'm I'm going off script here because I have a question for you. Susan and I had lunch or breakfast or something with a producer while we were in California recently, and she gave us this question. And you are the first person I've asked it to. If you would never see Joan again, what the last time you saw her? What is the one thing that you would want her to know if you were never going to see each other again?

About you?

That I truly loved her.

I knew that's what.

He's a hard one to ask that. That was for somebody on a date.

Really, No, I think you could ask it anybody. Yeah, I love that. But aside from the obvious that you truly love her, I mean because I would have guessed that's what you would say, is there something else that you would want her to know if you were never going to see her again?

That I was honest and everything that I told her?

Oh even better? Wow. And the next question, Susan I have for him is where do we get him cloned?

What's something you've always wanted to do but haven't done yet.

You know, I've had a very blessed life, ladies. I've been able to do a lot of stuff.

I feel that's a hard question if you asked me, I really don't.

Yeah, and you know it would probably you know at first, and I got some criticism on this when the show said, hey, we're going to give you a trip to Disney World, you know as originally because I thought Joan and I would go do something very exotic, and some people said they could just see it on my face. I'm actually looking forward to doing that and with her kids, my families and the thing that I haven't done yet. My life is to get my kids married or to have grandkids. So everything else been pretty much on cute.

Yeah, well there you go.

I break it. I like it. Okay, I have a question. What is one of your favorite memories as a teenager?

Favorite memories of a teenager was fishing in Hawaii and I caught a large tuna, thought it for six hours and I never landed. I still remember that. I had the picture, uh, sitting in the back of this boat and I got so sick because I get seasick, and it was just one of those memories that I just always, you know, just thought this canas you do get.

Sick, you do get six hours out in the ocean.

I get seasick. I get carsick.

You me, so, you and I I have to tell you we were both in carsick in that in that Dale Chuck. When we were in California, my husband we went on a deep sea fishing trip once and I never just like I've just started recently getting carsick, I never got seasick either until this time, going out deep sea fishing off the coast of Mexico somewhere and literally it was like a cartoon, the waves coming up over the boat. I've never been so sick in my life. And do you know that is my first and last time ever ever, So darling, if you and I were together, I would say you just go and enjoy that deep sea fishing. I'll be sitting on the lamb getting my.

All right, one more question for you. What's the worst piece of advice you've ever been given?

That work is probably one of the more important things in life.

Work is or is not?

It is that it is?

That's the worst reason of advice.

That's the worst piece Oh yeah, because work isn't important. That's I'm sorry that I mean really it's I mean.

You may mind a job if you're willing to work. You know, it depends on if you want to make money if you want to be happy. There was I read a or I was watching AH and I don't tell me the guy's name, but he's very famous. It's an AI chat guy that development and he makes seventy eight thousand dollars a year. He has no stock in the company and it's a non for profit and he goes, this is what I've always wanted to do. And looking back, I've made some decent money in my life. Has really made me happy. It's enabled me to do some things. But I probably would say, you know, like with my kids, I've told him they didn't they didn't really want to live in witch Talk, and I'm like, then go someplace you want to live. My son wanted to work in London, but he couldn't get a work visa, and that might happen, but go live your life and don't let a job, you know, really control you. My mother pushed me to go to medical school because she goes, you'll always have a job, and she was a specialist, so she would work someplace for two years, two years, two years, travel around the world, and when she was getting ready to pass you because I've had this most incredible life I've got to see everything I've raised my kids. So you know, it's tough when you're younger to look at it philosophically because you want that new car, you want the house. But as you get older, I go, I worked in my thirties and forties. I worked a lot of hours I did, and I look back at it and go, you know, it's tough on a marriage, it's tough on relationships, and look back that probably would have done that different.

All Right, Well this, since this is uh, you know, going to be airing in the new year, I have another question for you. And but we've got to wrap this up, which I hate to do because you know, we love chatting with you. What are some things that you'd like to accomplish in the new year? Besides getting a place in Soho, what else?

Well, I need your lady's help. This is my segue, hereto.

I was going to say go, because it's.

Just what do I get you?

You want?

Already told me what she wants?

A Chanel bagel bagg.

Do they because we've got a Walmart right down the shoe and because I'll get her too if they have them on highway?

Wait, I got to tell everybody you brought this up Chalk when we were girl, when we were in California. You looked at me quietly and you said, does she understand you don't know this, by the way, what I'm about to tell you. She said. You said to me this, Joan, understand that this apartment in New York is like birthday and Christmas and anniversary and everything else for the next three years. And so I took Joan aside and I said, hey, Joan, what do you think you're getting for Christmas? Because I just talked with Chalk and it looks like this apartment in Soho. She looked at me. She said, absolutely not. And I said, well, tell me now, because I will be chatting with him. What would you like? She said, a chanel bag. I said, I'll make sure he gets the message. So you were going to get it, I mean, I'm going to get it. You weren't. I get it on a national podcast. But now everyone knows that Joan is getting a chanel handba because you can't disupport now I've seen, by the way, Susan and I would like one too.

My daughter can tell me where to go get one, but help me because now.

And Marcus you to.

Sack. You can do what I want. You could do it.

Well, you want us to pick it out, We'll just pick it out for you.

For her birthday, which is January.

Land another channel bag.

No, I take her away, Take her away somewhere.

They're going away. No, you know what she likes. I'm serious, she loves. Get her a nice but not overdone piece of jewelry.

She likes Seriously Chanel jewelry.

By the way, Susan Chanel. If you're listening to Susan and I would each like a bag for this app free advertising, Thank you so much. No, seriously, get her you're done area. It'll mean something to her. Do it, you know what. Okay, I'm getting creative here. Do something with your children's burstunts, your combined children's burst stunts, or you're in her burst dowe. Do something that will be symbog that will have some meaning to her.

Have you seen her jewelry collection?

Yeah, she and I rival each other. I'm just going to tell you you talk.

She doesn't need much.

I'm a practical guy. I don't think she needs anything else. I told her yesterday.

It's not a matter of needing. It's not a matter of need. I mean, if you didn't let let me just say to you, chalk, if when you looked at her you didn't understand that she was high falutin high end girl. You missed the boat on that you spent way too much time in the Midwest. If you didn't pick up on that one, I have no something screaming scared. You're good.

I did pick up on it. I know. I'm just having fun.

Yes, I can't wait to see the snell bag. Okay, chuck, here, we got another question for you. Yes, if you could bring back any fashion trend or old slang, what would it be.

Well, I'm not saying this is the best decision, but I used to have sideburns, and I saw sideburns and I that kind of looks cool. But I don't think I'm going to be the first to do that.

How about that would the title? What would the title of your autobiography be?

He did it his way?

Okay, it all right? Well, I wanted to ask you, but we've got to end here in a second or so. But I really wanted to ask you what your real first name is, because I thought I read somewhere that it's Charles.

That is correct, Charles. It is Charles. My real name is Charles. And going through the casting process right before I went out to lays are chopp and I go my entire life it's been chopped. I just it is, and I'm not trying to be different. That's just what I've always no. I like it, Charles. Was when my mother was mad at Yes.

Yeah, that's me, Catherine, when my mother's angry, was angry. It's that's why I go by Kathy. So I will I will tell you chalk When I text you, it always comes up the writing implement C H A L K. So I'm gonna have to teach Siri how to really spell your name.

Just don't lose the H, right.

Right, I got that. I'm quick. All right, Well on that happy note. That does it for this episode.

One quick question is Chanel with three ends?

No, it's with ten dollars signs though, yes, major, All right, that does it. For this episode of.

Second she's always cold like you a Chanelle scarf?

Oh please, that could be. She's not a scarf girl, not a scarf. No scarfs do not. I'm giving you good advice, Sarah. And for the tenth and final time trying. I hate this, I hate this party, but this is going to do it for this episode of Batchelor Happy Hours Golden Hour. Thank you so much, Chalk for joining us.
