The Bushwackers Band formed in 1970 and now celebrates 54 Years of performing and recording 24 albums, 4 Eps, 8 compilation albums and 20 singles. The multi-award winning band has won 3 Golden Guitar Awards, and inducted into the Australian Roll of Renown, as well as they have won 3 Australian Entertainment Mo Awards.

In August 2023, Newton and Corbett, the core members of The Bushwackers, performed on national television a rendition of "I Am Australian" (co-written by Dobe Newton and Bruce Woodley of The Seekers), in their audition on the twelfth season of The Voice Australia, in which they received a four-chair turn before securing a place on coach Jessica Mauboy's team.

Dobe Newton is Chairperson of the Country Music Association of Australian (CMAA) and Roger Corbett is a Board Member (CMAA) and The CMAA Academy of Country Music.

The Bushwackers have been very popular on the Australian folk and country music scenes as well have played at rock venues and festivals over the years continuing to expand their audiences to new younger generations, with their lively energetic stage performances.
