Jon English (26/3/1949 – 9/3/2016) was an English-born Australian singer, songwriter, musician and actor. He was an early vocalist and rhythm guitarist for Sebastian Hardie but left to take on the role of Judas Iscariot in the Australian version of the stage musical Jesus Christ Superstar from May 1972. He had top twenty hit singles include "Turn the Page", "Hollywood Seven", "Words are Not Enough", "Six Ribbons" and "Hot Town". He had a starring role in the 1978 Australian TV series Against the Wind – he won the TV Week Logie Award for 'Best New Talent in Australia'. He won 4 Mo Awards. He has performed in Gilbert and Sullivan's operettas The Pirates of Penzance, The Mikado and H.M.S. Pinafore from 1984.

Keith ‘Stretch’ Kerwin was with Jon English Foster Brothers Band from 1981 to 1987 not only as a guitarist but also as one of the song writing collaborators. Keith Kerwin previously had been a member of Hoadley’s Battle of the Sounds Qld winning band The Avengers recording with EMI with singles ‘Listen, Listen’ and ‘Tweedle-E-Dee’, then co-formed Sanctuary, then toured with Jeff St John Band, Norman Gunston live, Doug Parkinson and various showbands. He has written songs for Doug Parkinson (As Soon As Your Thing Is Done), Renee Geyer (Feeling Is Believing) beside for his own bands.

The album “Jon English & The Foster Brothers Live at Billboard 1981” was recorded by sound engineer David Williams. The album sales are fund raising for the Australian Road Crew Association (ARCA), a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to helping ROAD CREW during hard times and serious illness through their welfare program. Many artists have generously given their permission for the release of the sound engineers’ desk tapes of their live performances that make up a diverse collection of some truly unique historical releases.
