The Barnard’s are a legendary musical family of jazz musicians such as the legendary trumpeter Bob Barnard, and band leader brother Len Barnard and grandparents who had Melbourne dance bands in the 1920s. Bob Barnard (24 Nov 1933 – 7 May 2022) was once rated in the Top 10 Trumpet players in the world by an American publication after appearing at the Bix Beiderbecke Festival in the USA. 1990 Bob Barnard was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia and received Mo Award Performer of the Year 1992 and 1996 Jazz Instrumental Performer of the Year. The tradition continues with his son’s Tony Barnard, jazz guitarist & master harp guitarist with 47 albums to his credit and drummer brother Adam Barnard.

Tony will be talking about his father Bob and uncle Len and their legacy. Tony Barnard is an Australian master guitarist and composer who has performed all over the world from his native Australia, across Europe, Asia, South Pacific and the Americas. His audiences have included royalty, prime ministers and presidents, celebrities and some of the world’s biggest names in music. Playing many styles including jazz, classical, blues and ambient. He has performed at prestigious international venues and major festivals.

The Swaggie Barnard albums have been donated by audio studio pioneer Bill Armstrong and the cd album sales are fund raising for the Australian Road Crew Association (ARCA), a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to helping ROAD CREW during hard times and serious illness through their welfare program.
