First Peoples Melbourne Art Trams 2026
Dates: On display across the city network until 2027.
Venue: Moving canvases on various Melbourne tram routes.
Description: If you travel around the CBD, look out for six operating trams completely wrapped in works by Victorian First Nations artists, curated under the theme of "Blak imagination"
Artists - Natasha Carter (Dja Dja Wurrung, Yorta Yorta and Jaru), Mitch Mahoney (Boonwurrung and Barkindji), Jenna Mayilema Lee (Larrakia, KarraJarri, Wardaman), Zena Zada Cumpston (Barkandji/Kurnu) and Sonja Hodge (Lardil).

Watch these hands presents new commissions from 12 artists whose creative practices are deeply rooted in custodianship, connection to Country, community, and intergenerational knowledge, the works presented explore cultural landscapes, collaborative storytelling, and custodial responsibilities.

Artists: Aunty Kim Wandin (Wurundjeri); Brooke Wandin (Wurundjeri); Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation’s Narrap (Country) Unit, including Edward Mullins (Wurundjeri/Noongar), Damien Nicholson (Wurundjeri/Gunai-Kurnai) and Ash Firebrace (Wurundjeri/Yorta-Yorta); Uncle Badger Bates (Barkandji); Siri Hayes (Naarm/Melbourne); Zena Zada Cumpston (Barkandji/Kurnu); Paul Wood (Naarm/Melbourne); Helen Ganalmirriwuy (Ḻiyagawumirr Garrawurra); Jennifer Roy Dikarr Malarra; and Maddison Miller (Darug).
