After nearly a week of being unconscious and on a ventilator following Tennessee’s botched execution attempt, Christa Pike is conscious and speaking according to her attorneys. They say Pike is the only known person to have survived two lethal doses of pentobarbital, but her long term prognosis remains unclear. Later today, Pike’s attorneys will be back in court, asking for evidence to be preserved in the case, as well as transparency into what went wrong. Meantime, Pike’s victim’s mom has reacted to the news that her daughter’s killer is awake, saying she “had a feeling” she would survive.
