Two very different closing arguments in the double murder trial of Brendan Banfield. The defense ended strong, poking holes in the au pair’s testimony, saying none of it can be trusted, first because she has every incentive to cooperate with the prosecution and second, because the digital forensics don’t support the au pair’s and prosecution’s catfishing narrative. The prosecution sped though their closing, going through the evidence they presented, point by point, finishing in less than 20 minutes. There was no storytelling and little emotion, and ended with this conclusion: either you believe the au pair or you believe Brendan Banfield.
