Relebogile Mabotja speaks to consumer journalist Wendy Knowler about the surge in product recalls this year. South Africa’s regulator has already announced 18 recalls, spanning contaminated food, medical supplies, and safety defects in vehicles. However, this is not necessarily a sign that the market is being flooded with substandard products. For context, the UK with a similar population has recorded nearly 3,000 recalls over the same period. This is largely due to stricter reporting requirements, particularly for pharmaceuticals, as well as a bigger market for processed consumer goods.
702 Afternoons with Relebogile Mabotja is broadcast live on Johannesburg based talk radio station 702 every weekday afternoon. Relebogile brings a lighter touch to some of the issues of the day as well as a mix of lifestyle topics and a peak into the worlds of entertainment and leisure.
